a month agoVolunteers perspective: I have been a part of this organization for three different seasons and I have to say everyone that I’ve come into contact with that deals with the kids does this out of love. The admin for the org and coach advisor for the org do this for the love of the game and have other jobs outside of this org. That being said somethings might get missed, it’s not purposeful just happens when you run an organization as big as this and as lean as this. I see the Admins here advocating very much for the coaches that speak up for their teams. Since the organizations coaches volunteers, you’re going to have a degree of different skill sets to teach the children . More often than not, volunteers sign up late because out of need and necessities. I personally have fallen in that box once and it’s work but given you try you will see the kids grow. Parents get out of your box and ask how you can help the team via snacks or fetching balls . If you land on the team or just one coach and an assistant coach would greatly love it if you helped where you could. I have to say I have participated in a different league that also plays in this area . It was more expensive, coaching was great and honestly the communication was not any better probably worse actually. That being said, I see my kids staying in Alamo City complex here on out.

6 months agoRented a Field to host youth football scrimmages. Contract signed, money paid.. A Napoleon of guy drove around the grass on a golf cart and stated we had too many kids out there.. There was no mention of attendees in any contract or dealings with them. He then asked how much I paid, when I told him he laughed and said we didn’t pay anything and we had to go.. I had to tell kids that we were not welcome when after we offered to pay additional funds. Do not go there they will change their minds and make up rules.. Final Thought, we had to leave but other soccer teams were allowed to stay…

2 years agoWe have been with them for 2-3 years and things have only gotten better. It was a little rocky every time they switched management, but Coach Summer is awesome and has it together. We love it here and my child has improved in his skills. I only wish they didn’t do participation trophies? but my child’s age group is not competitive play. Update: things have changed since they became surf soccer. $1200 for the year plus $200+ registration fee is crazy high. We used to pay a little over $200 for the season. My child basically lost all of the skills he had gained. Coach was terrible and didn't add any value to the players and their skills. He couldn't even be bothered to get to know the players. There was one kid who was having a rough time due to his background and instead of coaching this kid the coach just told him and his mother to go somewhere else. We lost several good players during the season and can't even blame them. We wont be coming back next season.

a year agoToo many people speeding so fast on the road from one entrance to another when the posted MPH is 20. They need to install at least 10 huge speed bumps on that road or somebody will be hit one day. Others bring dogs to the soccer field even some are unleashed when there are no pets allowed at all.

a year agoIf you ever wandered what it was like to play soccer in a desert / on a beach, look no further. Miles of dirt and sand. Not a blade of living green grass to be seen. The whole complex should be shut down by authorities as massive 🔥 hazard. Any public park would be a better location to play soccer.
