Aldo Leopold Nature Center

Great nature center with nice hiking trails through restored prairie and wetlands areas. They have a nature center preschool program and many free or lower cost classes for kids on some weekends and throughout the summer. We were there for a guided walk with a focus on insects today. It was a lot of fun and the prairie has lots of beautiful flowers blooming this time of year. The learning center has done interactive exhibits and info on Aldo Leopold's life and work.

Beautiful nature center located just outside the city! They've got a lovely prairie full of diverse plant life, squirrels and a wide array of birds including a nesting pair of sandhill cranes. There's a nice array of trails through the nature park and inside there's an awesome exhibit of climate and the earth, including two very cool movie presentations in unique little theaters.

Their summer camp programs are ELITE. Best of the best in town. My son has special needs and for once it didn't hinder him in summer programing because the school didn't put limits on him and I really appreciated that. They were very well equipped to deal with any small issue that arose. I can't give enough praise to the staff and grounds. It's a special place with great people!

Fantastic nature center that cares so deeply for the land and people. They model Aldo's land ethic and have phenomenal programming for all ages. The trails are well maintained and there is a variety of ecosystems. This is such a treasure in the Madison area. I always enjoy how friendly and caring the staff are and their passion and enthusiasm for what they do is so obvious.

We had our wedding at ALNC in July 2024 and I can honestly say I would recommend the experience to anyone. Isabella and her team went above and beyond to help make our day perfect—I was surprised and delighted by how incredibly helpful, well-coordinated, and warm everyone was. Thank you so much for everything Aldo!!!
