in the last weekThis was my 1st visit and I can see that this place was once a fabulous place to stay. However it is sorely understaffed and has so much deferred maintenance. Our room was double booked so we had to move mid-stay, we didn't even stay the last night of our 4 night booking. (No refund offered) Both rooms need to be cleaned better. They could majorly benefit with a spring cleaning to start fresh again. I wish I would have marked down the names of the staff that helped to make it a great experience. I believe this place could get back to all its glory, but they need to spend some $ to get some good help and make it shine again.

3 months agoWe’re currently staying here, and I wish I had done more research before giving the green light for my boyfriend’s family to book this place. We chose it primarily to celebrate a late Christmas and for the kids to enjoy swimming. While the room itself isn’t terrible, it has a distinct barnyard smell. We turned off the air and opened the window to try to improve it, but it didn’t help much. I informed the front desk, but all I got was a simple “sorry.” For the price we’re paying—especially with water park admission added on separately—it’s just not worth it. Why not include that in the resort fees? On top of that, there’s no room service (which we assumed they offered), and the coffee provided is undrinkable. If you stay here, bring your own or plan to grab coffee elsewhere. Also food options in the winter are not as advertised on their website. Plan accordingly if you decide to stay here. One suggestion would be to offer a grab and go breakfast bar with pastries, bagels, coffee for a cost. It’s disappointing because this property has so much potential. It’s a beautiful space with good bones, but it desperately needs attention and care. Staff should also be trained to be more empathetic and professional when handling guest concerns. Please do better!

3 months agoArrowwood indoor water park is a pretty standard water park. There are 2 kids sized slides. A big slide to take tubes down, and 2 slides for older kids and adults. There is a giant tipping bucket to splash water down when it tips. There are lifeguards on duty. A small hot tub in the corner. For the price, it's a decent choice. But you can see the age of the pools and fixtures. The lodge we stayed in was clean and well appointed. But the walls and floor are paper thin. Noise gets through super easy. A lot of the doors of our lodge were also loose fitting. But it's a great spot and place for a staycation. Well situated in Alexandria there is so much to do for everyone in the family.

3 months agoJust stayed here for a fire conference. My room was clean with a view out over the lake - pretty pricey for the area however. The CONFERENCE CENTER catered food was fantastic. The staff was extremely friendly. The $450 cancellation fee is ridiculous (glad I didn't have to use it!).

4 months agoWorst dining experience ever. Today, reservations were made for 12-13 of us and confirmed when we arrived. Told there’s one cook on and what appeared to be 2 servers. Took 45 minutes to receive 1 of our 2 appetizers, 2nd one arrived after another 30-45 minutes. All our meals didn’t arrive together and were staggered over a 30 minute period. None of us enjoyed our meal together. The restaurant was empty except for us!!! Reviews show a consistent issue dating back over the last 6 months. Reviewers were responded by being told it will be passed on to be dealt with. I highly doubt this review will make a difference. Oh and please, when a waitress has her her tie on her wrist with pieces of hair stuck to it when handling our food to us. It’s a major turn off and I’m sure state would frown on this as acceptable.
