a month agoUpon opening the doors you are greeted by a waft of pungent fermented foot odor. After acclimating to the smell it is not as bad. But the writing is on the floor. The amenities in the gym itself is good. In fact they have the tallest walls in Pittsburgh. I used to be a member here but my tolerance for the lack of cleanliness is exhausted. I observed the staff make attempts to remedy the cleanliness, however many of the fellow compatriots have no comprehension of hygiene. I have been to many gyms in many different states and parts of the world that prohibit bare feet in the gym. This is not one of them. Climbing is a crunchy sport but that does not mean hygiene goes out the window for a gym. Love it or leave it as they say.

a month agoAscend Climbing Gym is so much more than a gym—it’s a community! I recently took their Create + Inspire yoga class, and it was such a grounding and empowering experience. The instructors are knowledgeable, the space is welcoming, and the class left me feeling both strong and refreshed. Whether you’re into yoga, climbing, or just looking for a fun and inspiring way to move, they has it all. Highly recommend getting a membership to take full advantage of everything they offer!

5 months agoHave climbed South Side, but was super impressed with Pt Breeze! Honestly thought I'd be disappointed in how few auto-belay stations there were, but the height really makes a difference (in a good way) and tires you out twice as fast! Very clean, very packed on a rainy day. Climbing so close to others was a bit nerve-wracking, but you get used to it. Can't wait to go back!

10 months agoAmazing experience. Getting back into yoga and was able to try a few classes! Took a Slow + Steady and a Focus + Formed Yoga class. Loved both classes and instructors. Super clean and industrial space with a great practice that allowed full relaxation. I highly recommend checking out a yoga class. They also offer fitness classes or the ability to use their gym equipment which is super nice if you are running early or want to get a quick lift in after yoga!

in the last weekAscend is a great gym for anyone looking to start rock climbing. The staff is super friendly and professional, and they always do a good job of keeping the facilities clean. They also have weekly group training classes that alternate between this location and the one in Southside. The coach who runs them, Mike, is super friendly and knowledgeable
