9 months agoStaff is knowledgeable and helpful. There are options to kayak on the bay as well as the creek. They will even shuttle you to Ellison Park to kayak from there back to the rental location (just over a 4 mile ride). They offer the use of complimentary dry bags as well. Definitely recommend!

9 months agoGreat standup paddleboard (SUP) gentle yoga class on Irondequoit Creek, taught by Lynne. (No paddleboard experience necessary.) Also: Four years ago we bought kayaks from BayCreek. We appreciated (1) the co-owner’s knowledge and guidance to achieve our goal of getting lighter-weight boats, (2) help learning how to get the kayaks onto our car safely, and (3) the chance to try the boats on the water before purchasing. We’ve also taken advantage of the free paddling class twice and it makes us more efficient, happier paddlers. We continue to enjoy our kayaks on many different waterways.

a year agoI highly recommend the Ellison park shuttle kayaking experience. I’m not a very experienced kayaker and my daughter had very little previous experience. The crew was so helpful, getting us into the kayaks, giving us some instruction and then we were off. The current is all downstream from there and the paddling through Ellison park was a joy- beautiful and lush greenery, swallows calling and skimming along the water, paddling under quaint little bridges, mostly in the shade of huge willows, sycamore, and boxelders while the current practically carried us along. There were some branches down in the water that we had to navigate around, but it wasn’t a problem even for us beginners- it just added to the adventure. Once we were out of the park, the creek broadened and slowed and there was a whole different wildlife experience with red winged blackbirds, marsh wrens, herons, and eagles as we paddled along by cattails under the wide beautiful sky. The paddling from the Ellison drop-off back to BayCreek Paddling Center took 2 hours and 20 minutes at a very leisurely pace and then the crew helped us out of the kayaks. Super happy with the whole experience!
