a month agoBig island has a lot of potential. However, unless they address their red flags, they will fail to hold any stake in the community. Their gym is large, there is incredibly quality in the build, the space is in a needed location, and the setting is fun. However, it shows signs of it being a new gym. The grading is inconsistent, prices need some re-evaluation, some routes lack any sort of identity, and it is clear that the gym needs to be decisive about its expectations for children under the age of 13 as there were kids running under climbers constantly with apathetic staff that failed to do anything. The real red flag of this gym in my experience has been its absolutely terrible front desk customer service. Visiting on a Sunday put me at the front desk with a staff member that refused to acknowledge me, did not answer any of my questions, ignored me and ended conversations in the middle of speaking to me, and most importantly refused to give me the bare minimum of an orientation. It makes me worried for what their insurance claims may look like if their staff orients new members with the apathy that they treated me and my colleagues with. Truly an absolutely disappointing first visit. With so many other offerings in the city, why would I go to a place that doesn’t seems to care about their community, the safety of the members in the gym, or the welcoming/induction of new community members? For a place that claims to be family friendly, I fail to see how this gym is anything other than impolite, cold, and uncaring.

3 months agoBig Island Bouldering is a fantastic addition to the West Metro! The team is welcoming and knowledgeable, the routes are creative and well-maintained, and the equipment is top-notch. It's the perfect spot for kids, families, and climbers of all levels. My family is thrilled to have such an amazing climbing gym in our community. Highly recommend!

2 months agoThis is great place to go in the winter time if you love wall climbing! Get a day pass and spend a whole day to challenge yourself. Younger kids can have fun in the play area they have a slide. Also some workout equipments if you want something different 😊

4 months agoThis place is AMAZING!! Our family went for the first time this week and we are all hooked. The vibe is genuinely friendly and the setup of the spaces is very thoughtful. There are many options for all levels & little to no waiting (and we were there at a super busy time). My kids are already planning their birthday parties there and have requested we go every day next week 🤗. They also have a decent gym set up & a co-working space. We met a lot of really cool people & I can see this being a great community for us. Thanks for bringing Bouldering to the West side BIB!

a month agoIt's so great to have a gym in the western burbs finally! They've provided the ideal boulderer's space, with plenty of walls, high quality holds, great setting, a training boards and fitness area, and reasonable pricing. I'm so grateful to have this resource in our area.
