Fun park, free and easy overnight parking on the south end of the south parking lot near Fernando Place. We stayed at a Vrbo but couldn’t fit into the assigned parking space but I was able to park here easily under a well lit area. In the day time we took our son to the playground and beach by the cove, he loved both.

We visit Bonita Cove a minimum of 5 out of 7 days... We prefer to go close to the older bathrooms because there are less people and it seems almost private at times.... Early in the morning their is a pair of sea lions that you normally see that stay in the bay playing and making all kinds of ruckus...when "season" is in tourist literally kept the bathrooms around here destroyed but now that it's slowed back down they stay clean telling us that the homeless aren't the problem. It's the Bay so the water is warmer and calmer than across the road at the beach.

This side is a lot more quiet which is lovely. Though it has a ton more broken up sea shells so can be a little rough to walk bare foot on. No cuts. You just have to be cautious. We didn't walk far but it was nice to see the newer homes and boats on the water.

Beautiful spot but people abuse it. The bathrooms are frequently trashed. It's ridiculous. Why can't people treat them the way they would their own at home? And don't blame it on the homeless because I'm there a LOT and I see the tourists and locals alike leaving their trash all over the beach and grass, in the restrooms, in the shower area. It would be such a fantastic spot if not for the people. And that's a damn shame.

The park has so much for kids and family to do. Best thing about the park is that it is visually transparent, so parents can always see their kids running around through the apparatuses. Absolutely love the blue rope hammock that can easily fit 2 full adults. Concrete chairs are a bit as well. When it gets busy, parking can be SUPER tight. Even when crowded though, there are so many different apparatuses to play on, you will not feel the issue like at some more compact parks.
