8 months agoTrail maintenance need TLC but parking is adequate and water level was low yesterday. Next trip, I will take a bow saw to help cut some of the down trees to help better kayaking. We did pick up trash as we floated. We didn't see any other people just those that lived along the river. It was peaceful and seeing nature without the crowd. Defiantly bring snack or light lunch and plenty of fluids.

2 years agoThe trail from the parking lot to the river is narrow but not steep. I recommend carrying your boat with a partner. A nice shale ledge offers easy boat launches. It takes a bit before the noise of the interstate sinks into the background. Races at Barber Motorsports echo through the otherwise serene Cahaba valley. The stretch to Grants Mill road has several shoals that require you to walk your boat Check the swim guide at the Cahaba Riverkeeper to check the pollution level and check the Cahaba Blueway website for tips and links e.g. to water levels. All that said: A day on the water is always a good day!

10 months agoIt is used to be a good spot to take the kids for a swim. Last trip, there was a dude rolling joints and drinking beer while standing in the water where the kids can get in and out. Time before, it was crowded with a bunch of drunk people.

a year agoGreat place no one knows about...Kayak from here to the grants Mill stop will take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours to complete depending on how often you stop..The next stop is grants mill and by water it is 5.1 miles..A handflul of shallow ereas but its no problem and there arent any serious rapids...Have Fun..
