2 weeks agoCalico Basin Trail is a stunning location just outside of Las Vegas—one of my absolute favorites for a quick hike, or for engagement and couples portraits! The red rock formations, desert flora, and golden light make it feel otherworldly, especially during golden hour. I recently photographed a couple here and was blown away by how many different backdrops we had within a short walk. Whether you’re going for something adventurous, romantic, or earthy, this trail delivers every time. It’s peaceful, naturally beautiful, and incredibly photogenic. Sharing a few portraits from our session to show why Calico Basin is such a gem for couples!

in the last weekThis is a great area to hike and picnic. We came here because we did not get a reservation at Red Rock Park. Beautiful scenic views, nice hiking trails and parking.

5 months agoI was here this morning. The weather was beautiful, we arrived at about 6:30 in the morning and it wasn't too crowded so there was plenty of parking. There's lots of trails that head off from this entrance. We did the Basin Trail, and I believe the Overlook Scramble. As someone new to desert hiking, they were pretty challenging at times, but overall, great. We ended the hike at the boardwalk, which was a welcome respite from walking on loose rocks that were threatening to shatter my ankles.

a week agoThis area has a lot to offer to a wide variety of people. When I was there last I met a wildlife photographer in search of nesting Ravens, lone hikers like me seeking the simple beauty of nature, groups of tourists walking the board walk through the lush springs area and rock climbers exploring the colorful wind sculpted rock formations. There are hikes that range from a walk in the park(wheel chair accessible )to strenuous vertical rock climbing. Go early and watch the world awaken through the magical morning light and you will be rewarded with an experience only found in the desert.
