Camp Odayin

Our daughter has found a community at Camp Odayin that helps her know she is not alone with her heart disease. She has friends to call when she needs to talk; she could have never met them in any other way. And the BEST part is that they can just be kids and have the absolute best time being kids doing what they can in a safe, cardiology-monitored environment. She is SO proud to wear her Odayin hats and use her Odayin water bottles. Camp Odayin has given her confidence to own who she is as a human, not just be the kid who has heart disease.

Camp Odayin has been a Godsend to my Heart Warrior and our family. Now that my baby is technically a tween, she needs to be around other people that can understand her hopes and fears like I cannot with my typical heart. I have met so many wonderful parents and supportive staff through the years and I consider them truly a blessing in this rough journey thus far! Thank you for all you do for our families and our kids! ❤️

Camp Odayin does amazing work with some of the most vulnerable kids out there - kids that struggle with various congenital and other heart health related disorders. I am so fortunate to see the amazing work this group does up close. I've learned so much having spoken with parents who have had children participate in the various Camp Odayin programs, and how much their involvement positively impacts their collective lives. Camp Odayin is a place of love and support ~ A FAMILY! In the midst of diagnosis, surgery, lots of doctors appointments and so much uncertainty we found Camp Odayin. A place and a group of people who saw our daughter for who she was and not a medical condition ~ it was here she found a place where she was just like everyone else, everyone has a scar and it was ok. When she returned home after her first week of residential camp she was so much more at ease talking about her heart defect and explaining all about it when people asked about her scar, a whole new level of self-confidence emerged and it was awesome. Camp Odayin understand the impact this diagnosis has not only on the child but also on the entire family~ mom, dad and siblings too and they go to great lengths to support every family! Camp is a space of comfort, love, education, abundant laughter and truly a special part of our journey ~ we have been so fortunate to be connected to so many great families that also walk this path none of us ever imagined being on but Camp Odayin has given us the opportunity to find a space together that makes us a family connected by heart~ A HEART FAMILY! We will never be able to put into words how much Camp Odayin has impacted and touched our lives on this journey but they certainly have a special place in our hearts!

Camp Odayin is one of the best places to volunteer for! Being a camp counselor to these kids with heart disease is truly such an inspiring experience. Watching them grow throughout the week is so special, and I think that everyone should experience this. I would recommend this camp to anyone looking for a life changing volunteer experience.
