3 weeks agoCherry Creek Reservoir State Park is a fantastic destination for a scenic drive, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It's also perfect for walking or biking, with plenty of well-maintained trails to explore. The park features numerous picnic areas, many of which boast picturesque vistas, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing outdoor meal. Additionally, visitors can launch boats onto the reservoir and take in the beautiful scenery from the water. Whether you're looking for an active adventure or a peaceful day in nature, this park has something for everyone.

a month agoWalked the Cherry Creek Reservoir Loop trail today which included the Dam Trail, Lake View Trail, and Smoky Hill Trails. Fairly peaceful and quiet walk with my wife. We were surprised at the little motorist noise from the dam. Beautiful day, calm, not windy. Disappointed with the amount of trash washing up from the water. Very disappointed with the number of cyclists that say nothing as they approach from behind. Out of more than 2 dozen cyclists that passed us from behind on two, TWO said on your left. What is wrong with people??? Complete lack of respect or knowledge, or maybe entitlement. Multiple groups of 3+ cyclists that said nothing, just rolled by within inches as they passed. Plus a group who were on the Wetland Trail which has clear signs notifying visitors (No bicycles, horses, pets). Really unfortunate that there are people that refuse to learn appropriate behavior on trails!

2 months agoYesterday, I found CCSP, and I'm glad I did. It offers a target rich environment to photographers who enjoy shooting wildlife. There's plenty of parking space and miles of walking trails. I already walked many of the trails through the wetlands area, and weather wise, I chose a perfect day to do it.

2 weeks agoMy dog and I went down to the Mountain Loop. It's where we typically go for some quiet time and to check the conditions before bringing our paddle board. We picked up a beer bottle that was right at the water's edge. For those of us, like myself, who've been cut by broken glass in the res, I was happy to find it intact so I could throw it away and keep it out of harm's way, not only for those of us who enjoy the res but for the animals in the preserve as well.
