💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • **Bring bug spray:** Reviewers specifically advise bringing it to manage insects.
  • **Avoid visiting after rain:** Trails are prone to becoming muddy and impassable due to fallen trees.
  • **Visit during fall:** Highly recommended for experiencing 'magical & beautiful' fall colors.
  • **Embrace the plane noise:** For families with young children, this can be a highlight rather than a distraction.
  • **Be prepared for natural trail conditions:** Expect some neglected sections and occasional fallen trees.

Things to Consider

  • Trails can appear 'a bit neglected' or not perfectly maintained.
  • Plane noise is a consistent factor due to being 'next to the airport'.
  • Bugs are present, requiring visitors to 'bring bug spray'.
  • Fallen trees occasionally 'block some of the paths'.
  • Trails can become muddy and difficult to navigate 'after rain'.

Price & Value

Not mentioned in reviews. As a nature preserve, it is commonly free or low-cost, but no specific pricing details are provided.

  • Trails are described as 'easy sauntering,' suggesting general walkability for most.
  • **Potential challenges:** 'Some trees are down and block some of the paths,' especially problematic 'after rain,' which could hinder strollers or mobility aids. No specific accessibility accommodations (e.g., paved paths, sensory hours) were mentioned.

🚗Parking Info

  • A 'small parking lot' is available 'immediately as you enter'.
  • The lot is conveniently located 'right near the parking' and has a 'circle drive'.
  • Due to its small size, it's noted that the preserve is 'usually never packed'.

👥Crowd Levels

  • Generally low crowd levels; described as 'usually never packed' because of the 'small parking lot'.
  • The atmosphere is consistently referred to as 'peaceful', suggesting minimal crowds.

🛡️Safety Features

  • No specific safety features (e.g., staff patrols, emergency call boxes) were explicitly mentioned in the reviews.
  • **Minor hazard:** 'Some trees are down and block some of the paths' could be a minor safety consideration, particularly after storms or heavy rain.

When to Avoid

Nice walk around the preserve. If you have little ones, this place has planes taking off and landing being close to the airport!

Nice overall, easy sauntering. Trails seemed a bit neglected but the flora and sounds of birds made up for it. Parking is immediately as you enter, pavilion right near the parking and there's a circle drive. One could walk these trails and feel accomplished at the end.

Nice short trail that makes you seem like you are further away. Next to the airport so you do hear the planes but it is a old growth forest. Bring bug spray and don't come after rain. Some trees are down and block some of the paths. If you can do the whole circle it's about a mile.
