4 months agoAmazing spot. Skip the crowds and go authentic. Dig up potatoes, cut your own pumpkin, watch chickens, and pet a goat.

9 months agoEnjoy Pioneer Farm is a must-visit commodity if you are in the Chicago area!! It is about an hour outside of Chicago and definitely worth the drive! My family of 5 visited this place and did not know what to expect. We showed up and the place looked a little cluttered and unorganized but they were far from it. The owner and staff were excellent at providing customer service. The price to pet and hold the ducks, chicks, goats, etc. was $6 per person for the entire visit. The bathroom was an outhouse with a working toilet! The sink was outside with soap on a rope which was a site to see! There was hand sanitizer in multiple locations for customer use. The animals were in the red barn and included a pig, cow, rooster, sheep, lamb, baby ducks, baby chicks, baby goats, and bunnies. The $6 was an excellent price for the service we paid for. I was even able to walk one of their cows around the property for a bit!! The farm also offered “rent a baby chick or duck” option where families can borrow supplies and purchase food to care for the animal for a selected time period. This animal petting farm is only offered in the summer. In the fall I will be sure to come back for their produce and pumpkin picking season which begins in October!

a year agoI had a stroke of good luck and met the owner at Aldi, he invited my family to check the place out and we did. I was a bit surprised by the location, however knowing that the property has been in the family for generations definitely changed my perspective. The owners are incredibly kind and friendly. They have chicken and duck rentals (we are seriously considering doing this next year) and it's only $8/person (a little less) to spend time petting the animals. They had pigs, rabbits, cows, goats, and sheep. Eggs and other farmish things are available for sale and it's definitely worth an hour to an hour and half of your time to go and love on the animals.
