Winter offers perfect weather for exploring the Picture Rocks Trail in Tucson, with pleasant temperatures that make any time during daylight hours ideal for your hike. The trail is a bit rockier compared to others in the area, so while specialized hiking shoes aren’t a necessity, sturdy footwear with good grip is highly recommended. As you ascend, keep an eye out for stable rocks to ensure a safe climb. The rugged terrain adds a touch of adventure, and the effort is rewarded with stunning views and the serene beauty of the desert landscape.

Amazing trail! I didn’t make it to Finger Rock. Did around a 2 mile round trip. Easy to follow. Bring water and sturdy ankles.

5/23 - Was able to go again today. Made it to Saddle Ridge overlook I think it’s called. Best part was the spotting of a ‘Black Rattlesnake!!’ Just amazing and beautiful. 5/21 Great day for a hike. Went about 2.4 miles up and it was 70 degrees up there. Just beautiful. If you stop the black flies are all over you so just keep moving. Only 2 20 inch rattle snakes. They are amazing reptiles. Used my hiking poles to get around them. Just get out there and enjoy!

This trailhead has possibly some of the best trails in the world. Me and my sister are both healthy and we’re able to complete the 6 mile hard level Trail. Previously, we have gone a hiking in Hawaii and that was great as the views were stunning but for most of the hike in Hawaii, you’re in the forest and just occasionally you get an incredible viewing spot. This trail is different though for the entire way you are in the valley of the mountain and, the views from the bottom of the trail head and the top are just as good as well as the entire hike up is beautiful.
