3 months agoGreat starting point for the North Branch Trail. You can bike this trail up to the Botanic Gardens and back. Alot of scenery to see along the way especially during the fall. There does tend to be quite a bit of foot traffic here on the weekends but once you get further north it dwindles down.

11 months agoSuch a wonderful place to catch a break from the busy rhythms of the city. Easy to find, plenty of parking, picnic area, paved and unpaved paths where you can feel closer to nature or do off road biking. Lots of wildlife. The grounds are impeccably maintained. The paved path crossed over a bridge and with planes flying overhead, in and out of O’Hare while Amtrak and Metra trains zoom and out of town via tracks that run on the outer edges to the forest preserve. People here seem very chill too, walking their dogs, biking and spending time with family. Seeing a few elderly couples made me notice that there weren’t too many rest stops/benches but that’s perhaps the only missing accommodation here.

a year agoThis forest preserve needs lots of work. The trials are not marked so people make new trails next to each other. Weeds are not controlled and there are no benches or nice spots to take the view. A lot of erosion.
