6 months agoWent for a hike and ended up at the visitor center to use the bathrooms. I definitely want to go back and check out the history of the fort and the museum there. Hiking Pike Island was great on a warm fall day. We took the winter trail ( still got our 10,000 steps). Very peaceful weekday hike. We also saw lots of bikers.

11 months agoI love State Parks in Minnesota. Almost all of them are well maintained and taken care of. Camping and hiking and being away from the noise is one of my priorities. Even this one (Forte Snelling) does not offer camping, it is still one of my favorites for sure for its distance and serenity it offers. The length of the hiking or biking trails is great and also connected to many other trails. Hope It is open to camping one day.

10 months agoLove this place but couldn't hike Pike Island due to high water, so I will definitely go back! My grand littles had fun, too, with the displays in the visitor center, hiking and being at the confluence of the Minnesota and Missippi rivers.

a year agoSuch a beautiful state park! We came during Spring and lots of plants and trees were waking up from dormancy. We also saw bald eagles, ducks, gooses, and other small wildlife! I will have to come again during summer.

3 weeks agoI think this duck is laying an egg. Nice, open walkway with lots to do for the whole family.
