Fox Run Park is a small, local neighborhood park primarily offering a walking/jogging/biking trail around a pond, and a children's playground. It is frequented by regulars for casual outdoor activities and dog walking.

Key Highlights

  • Beautiful park aesthetic (implied by 'Beautiful park' comment)
  • Friendly atmosphere among regulars
  • Children at the playground are typically well-behaved and monitored by adults
  • Dog-friendly environment (leashed dogs observed)

Standout Features

  • Walking/jogging/biking trail around the pond/lake
  • Dedicated children's playground area
  • Pond with turtles (potential viewing interest)
  • Dog-friendly policy (leashed dogs permitted and common)

Perfect For

Toddlers & Young Children: Playground is available, but extreme caution is advised due to venomous snake sightings near play areas.
Older Children & Teens: Can utilize trails for walking/biking/running, but limited amenities might lead to boredom for teens.
Families: Suitable for casual outdoor activity, but strong vigilance and supervision are crucial due to wildlife hazards.

Ideal For

Local residents seeking a free, basic outdoor space for a short walk, run, or bike ride
Parents looking for a quick playground visit with younger children (with high vigilance for safety)
Dog owners needing a nearby spot for a leashed walk
Casual outdoor activity for families living in the immediate neighborhood

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Exercise extreme vigilance and maintain close supervision of children, especially near the pond and walking paths, due to reported presence of large venomous Cottonmouth Water Moccasins near both water and playground areas.
  • Keep children close and under direct supervision at all times, especially near water and playground paths.
  • Consider contacting park management about the reported ant issue around the playground for potential remediation.
  • Best suited for short, casual walks, runs, or bike rides rather than extensive, long-distance training.
  • If bringing a dog, ensure it remains leashed as is common practice among regulars.

Things to Consider

  • Significant safety concern due to confirmed sightings of large venomous Cottonmouth Water Moccasins (up to 4ft long) on walking/jogging paths near the pond and reportedly by the playground area
  • Ants reported around the play area, requiring pest control by the city
  • Limited amenities, described as 'nondescript' and 'mediocre' by some visitors
  • Park is relatively small (less than one square mile) and not ideal for long-distance running

Price & Value

Free entry. Value is derived from free access to basic park amenities like a playground and walking trails, but the significant wildlife safety concern (venomous snakes) may severely impact perceived value for families.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility accommodations mentioned in reviews.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • Not mentioned in reviews, but typically neighborhood parks allow outside food.

🚗Parking Info

  • Not explicitly mentioned, but likely street parking or a small, local lot given its description as a 'neighborhood park' surrounded by 'tract houses'.

👥Crowd Levels

  • No indications of severe overcrowding; described as having 'regulars' and a 'friendly' atmosphere. Children at the playground are observed to be 'well-behaved' and 'monitored by an adult', suggesting a manageable crowd.

🛡️Safety Features

  • Primary safety concern is the reported presence of large venomous Cottonmouth Water Moccasins (up to 4ft) on paths near the pond and playground. No park-provided safety measures (e.g., warning signs, active wildlife management) were mentioned by reviewers, placing responsibility on visitor vigilance.
  • Ants around the play area were reported as an issue.
  • Children at the playground are reportedly 'monitored by an adult', contributing to localized peer supervision.

When to Avoid

  • Families who are highly uncomfortable with or unprepared for potential encounters with large venomous snakes, especially with young children

Beautiful park. I've tried to reach the city to ask them to put down something for ants around the play area.

Not bad. I enjoyed myself. Better if you just wanna walk around a track a few times, but if you like to run long distances, might want to consider elsewhere. Nice lil park for the kids to play though 👍

This is a nondescript neighborhood park with a small body of water, playground, walking trail, and a few trash cans. I would estimate that the size of the park is less than one square mile. It is surrounded by tract houses and, overall, does not have very many amenities. In sum, it is a mediocre park.

Regulars like to go here to run, bike ride or walk around the lake trail. People are friendly, children well behaved at playground and monitored by a adult. People like to walk their dogs and keep them on leashs.
