Overview
Expert Summary
Detailed Insights
Freckle Farm is a mobile petting zoo highly praised for its professional, communicative, and flexible staff. They offer a diverse assortment of well-cared-for animals, including ponies for rides. 💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →If booking for a private or community event, expect good communication and flexibility from their team.
- →For public events, parents should vigilantly observe the animals' condition (body language, signs of fatigue) and ensure they have access to water and rest, especially if the event is crowded or long. Be prepared to voice concerns if necessary.
- →Don't hesitate to engage staff for educational insights about the animals for your children.
- →Consider them for events where inclusivity and educational value are a priority.
Things to Consider
- ⚠One reported instance (Glendale Glitters 2015) of ponies appearing extremely exhausted, with "legs giving out," and no visible water or food for extended periods, leading to serious animal welfare concerns.
- ⚠Alleged unresponsiveness of staff when animal welfare concerns were raised at a large public event.
- ⚠Potential for animal overwork in high-demand, crowded public event settings, which could impact the animals' well-being.

♿Accessibility & Special Needs
- •Staff demonstrated exceptional service by actively bringing animals (e.g., a goat) to a resident in a wheelchair who couldn't access the main petting area, indicating a strong willingness to accommodate physical limitations and ensure inclusivity.
🍎Food & Drink Policy
- •Not applicable as this is a mobile service; food and drink policies would be determined by the event host at the specific location.
🚗Parking Info
- •Not applicable as this is a mobile service; parking arrangements would be managed by the event host at the event location, not by Freckle Farm.
👥Crowd Levels
- •For public events, there can be "50+ people in line" for pony rides, indicating potentially high demand which may lead to animal fatigue if not managed correctly (as per Review 4).
- •For private events, crowd levels are controlled by the host, typically resulting in a more manageable and personalized experience.
🛡️Safety Features
- •Parents felt their "kids were anything other than safe" at events, suggesting a high level of perceived safety.
- •Pony rotation is implemented to ensure animals are not overly tired or moody, which contributes directly to rider safety.
- •Pony rides are stopped during loud concerts or shows to prevent startling animals and ensure child safety.
- •Professional and attentive staff contribute to a safe overall environment for both children and animals.
⏰When to Avoid
- • Attending their service at very large, high-demand public events (e.g., festivals like Glendale Glitters) without first personally verifying current animal welfare practices, due to past reports of overworked ponies and unresponsive staff.
- • If you are highly sensitive to how animals might be treated in potentially crowded, high-volume public situations and cannot personally monitor their condition.

2 years agoWe used Freckle Farm petting zoo for a neighborhood event in November. They were excellent to work with—good communication, flexible b/c we had to pay through our neighborhood assoc, available kind of last minute. They brought a great assortment of animals, seemed to care for them well and interacted great with the neighbors attending the event. I’d hire them again and highly recommend!

a year agoWhat a wonderful family and petting zoo! We had a resident event at our apt. community tonight and they were so professional. The zoo was so much more than we expected. Everyone had a great time, the staff took time to talk about the animals so the children were educated and having a good time. Alexis even took one of the goats over to a resident in a wheelchair wasn't able to get to the area. That above and beyond service is what will make me call them again for my next event! I highly recommend them for yours!

8 years agoGreat family atmosphere and Randy Jones is very knowledgeable, attentive and professional. Attractions were clean and decorative. Prices were very reasonable! All animals had fresh water and they had multiple ponies there to change out if tired or moody. They were sure to stop rides during loud concerts or shows. At no time did I feel my kids were anything other than safe. Tons of fun!

9 years agoMy wife and Kids Went to Glendale Glitters 2015 to attend and take our kids out, my mother wanted to give her grandkids a ride on ponies. Upon observation my wife and I noticed that 2 of the ponies legs were giving out one extremely tired and looked like he wanted to fall over. It was brought up to the staff and we saw nothing done. There were still at least 50+ people in line to ride these ponies and I pulled my kids out of line. These ponies are abused and run for hours without rest through the night having to haul kids sometimes varying in weights. I saw none get water or food. This is abuse. I had a horse when I was little and grew up around them and have taken care of horses. They are animals and although they are workhorses they still have limits. So if you attend this farm I encourage you to pay attention to their body language and how these people treat these horses. Thanks for reading.
