6 years agoNicely maintained park and trails in the city. Trails are not marked with blazes, but the main ones are packed gravel, and intersections are all clearly marked with signs. The main trails are laced with unlabeled dirt trails for more strenuous hiking and mountain biking. Most of the trails are less than a mile long, but you can easily string together several to make a longer hike. Parking at trailheads is limited, but there are bigger parking areas at the Squirrel Hill and Regent Square entrances.

7 years agoExcellent trail of crushed limestone great for walking or biking. Eventually crosses Forward Ave. below the Parkway East and continues into Frick Park proper turning into the Tranquil Trail. My only complaint is the smell of sewer run-off that empties into Nine Mile Run during heavy rains and the graffiti near the footbridge, but otherwise the trail remains pretty free of garbage and makes for a pleasant extended walk.

5 years agoWatch out for the bridges! The wood gets wet and has a sort of slime on it that is super slippery. I have fallen as well as several of my friends. The parks department doesn't seem to want to do anything about it. The park has loads of trails off of this main path, just make sure to keep your eyes peeled for mountain bikers. They also use the trails here.
