3 weeks agoWow back when I was a child this was part of a military facility where our family visited the PX and medical... So mind blowing to enjoy this transformation! I loved the historical and nature info placards throughout the trails. Kudos to the naturalization staff for maintaining and developing the park. I was there at a rather quiet weekday time so nothing going on in the center. Was appreciative of the restrooms/facilities being available. The trails are mowed nice and wide. There are several lovely benches along the paths for rest breaks or to sit and ponder.

3 weeks agoWonderful day for a spring hike. We hiked the orange trail which is dog friendly. As things start to green up here in SE WI this place will really start to pop. Enjoy our 414 State Forest!

a year agoAs a biophile, finding this place is a godsend for life in this city. Came here on Thanksgiving for the first time and had such a good time just wandering with my pooch. Was even still a fair bit of green foliage this late in the year. Walking out on the little dock and just listening to ducks quack and swim while the sun kissed my cheeks was extremely soothing and something i wouldn’t mind doing everyday. Still obvious that you’re surrounded by this noisy unnatural urban environment with all the cars clanking and whizzing down the terribly maintained streets… but if you plug your ears or put on headphones, you can totally pretend your in a real forest.

3 weeks agoLarge urban park great for wildlife viewing all year round. Lots of meandering trails through woodland, wetland, and prairie. Restored habitats, knowledgeable staff, and a nice nature center.
