💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →**Verify Restroom Status:** Due to conflicting reviews about restroom availability, it's highly advisable to check the current situation before a long visit, especially with young children.
- →**Pack All Essentials:** Since there are no nearby gas stations or restaurants, bring all necessary snacks, drinks, and supplies to avoid needing to leave early for amenities.
- →**Extend Your Visit with History:** Plan to visit the Shoal Creek Living History Museum, which is free and accessible via the park's trails, for an enriched family outing.
- →**Wear Appropriate Footwear:** Be prepared for walking or hiking on the extensive trail system.
- →**Prepare for Crowds/Noise:** If visiting during peak times, be aware that the park can get loud and busy, though fellow families are often described as friendly.
Things to Consider
- ⚠**Conflicting information regarding restrooms:** One earlier review critically noted a complete absence of restrooms, forcing them to leave 'way too early' to find toilets. Another, more recent review, praised clean and easily accessible facilities. Parents should verify current restroom availability.
- ⚠No gas stations or restaurants are conveniently nearby, meaning families need to be self-sufficient for food, drinks, and bathroom breaks if park facilities are insufficient or not present (as per earlier review).
- ⚠Can become loud and overwhelming when the park is full.

3 weeks agoThis is a really nice, clean playground with high quality equipment. There are plenty of play areas for different ages and abilities. There are a lot of benches and shaded areas. There is a soccer field and some other areas of that nature, but I didn’t pay close enough attention to them to list them here. The zip line is the best part as it is so much fun, and it’s a feature that is unique to only a very small handful of playgrounds. The materials used for the grounds are predominantly turf and wood chips. I would give a full 5 stars if they had any bathrooms, but there are none, and the park isn’t near a gas station or any restaurants—not that anyone should have to pack up the kids and drive around just for a bathroom break. They NEED to put a restroom in, and there is plenty of space to build one. We traveled far to get to this playground, but we had to leave way too early to find toilets. We live close to downtown KCMO and it was so nice to be in this rural, quiet area. It’s just so peaceful. And there were so many large birds swooping around that were fun to watch.

4 years agoLove the new playground and the trail connects all the way to the golf course on the other side. It’s the perfect place for us to host a 5k / 10k race. The participants all enjoyed the views of nature and running through the living history museum. That is also something I will definitely be bringing my kids back to visit: the Shoal Creek Living History Museum. It’s a free!
