3 months agoI was hesitant to post a review, but sometimes it is the best way to let a company know where they are lacking. I bought a Hobie kayak from them and had some warranty issues a few years later. I know Hobie is slow when it comes to warranties (I’ve been waiting 4 months for my new kayak). I don’t put that on Idaho River Sports, but where I found problems was their communication. I have had to pry information out of them to see what the status was of my warranty and it seemed like every time I called the store, there wasn’t a manager in store and none of the regular employees had any knowledge on where to find information about my warranty. Numerous times I was asked for my name and phone number, and that I’d get a call from a manager, but not once did I get a call back. I found emailing to be better communication, but rarely do I get a follow up email on a question I have. If I could reach out to hobie directly to ask questions and cut out the middle man, I would do it in a heart beat. Unfortunately, I have to go through a dealer and that’s where I’ve been frustrated. It’s been a week since I asked them to reach out to Hobie and see what is up with the shipment of my new kayak that was supposed to be on a truck within the first week or two of January. I still haven’t heard anything back…… I live about 300 miles away and am not able to go in store to talk to them.

11 months agoThe team at Idaho River Sports is great! They are helpful and thorough getting the SUP rental equipment out for our use. They are close to Quinn's pond, so no long walks hauling a board or kayak to the water. I haven't had any of the food from the eatery nearby, but it sure smells good! Give them a try. You don't have to own a SUP or a kayak to enjoy the sport on the pond with IRS right there (and not the tax people!).

5 months agoThis was one of the single best equipment shopping experiences I have ever had out of any sport, ever, and I mean that. I am completely new to all of this and Esme, Dan, and Harry were incredibly patient and helpful. I'm autistic and have severe social anxiety and I ask questions incessantly trying to min/max optimum outcomes. I often feel like a nuisance at gear stores because of this but felt 0% of that here, and they made me feel super safe and comfortable, even towards the end when folks usually start to kind of lose patience with me. These three were amazing- they took time to explain things to me on the floor and show me the various PFD options available that matched my use cases, and even got me a perfect price point on much needed gear so that I didn't have to compromise my loadout. Would recommend this team and this store to anyone needing water sports gear, any time. Thank you all again!

5 years agoThe most professional and friendly place! I stopped in randomly to inquire about a paddle board and lesson and they couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. A big thank you to Bailey who came in on her day off to give me the best lesson and teach me how to paddle board! Again, the nicest people, a great shop, and dog friendly (Loki loved all the attention)!!! I will be sure to visit every summer! Thanks Idaho River Sports!!!
