3 weeks agoInteresting small museum inside Burke Lakefront Airport between Gates 3 and 5. Exhibits are detailed, well-organized and informative. In addition to photos and posters, there are models and costumes as well. Kids learned a lot about women in air and space. Free admission. Parking curbside or in lot. Worth a visit. Recommended.

a week agoGood value for the price. It had a decent sized exhibit in multiple locations. The gift shop was meh like any other gift shop. I wish there were more interactive things. It was a lot of reading if youre into that. Seeing the inside of aircrafts were definitely the highlight.

a year agoWhat a beautiful hidden historical gem! This free admission collection is housed in the Burke Lakefront Airport which harkens back to small local airports of old times. It is not for commercial jets, so is small and houses several aviation based businesses and organizations. It is situated along a beautiful lake view. The collection is arranged chronologically and highlights these pioneering women's lives both personally and professionally. There is a wonderful balance of admiration for their tenacity and acknowledgment of the privilege needed to attain their aviation goals. It is obvious that the exhibit was set up with accessibility in mind. The parking is plentiful and the entrance is an automatic door with no threshold. The displays are low enough to be seen from a wheelchair and there are buttons to speak and light up the displays. The only thing I was unable to say that others could was the control display of one of the flight simulators. The gift shop is within the offices of the two employees who were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great place for those who need a quiet environment without big crowds.

9 months agoFree museum! Sort of. The museum is a large display area inside of the airport terminal itself. And while there are no tickets to purchase, if you parked your car in their very spacious parking lot then you will be paying a fee ($7 at the Time of this writing) to get out. The museum area is modest but still worth walking through and reading about some of the achievements during an era when being a ground breaking person was a significantly higher hurdle to reach. (If you are also going to go see the USS Cod, you may be able to park there for free and see both exhibits back-to-back. Not saying you SHOULD do that, nor am I saying it IS free to park at the USS Cod's parking lot, but that might be an option on weekdays when there's nobody around.)
