2 weeks agoThis is the first time I’ve ever been to this wildlife refuge. I’ve heard about it over the years, but never visited. It didn’t know what to expect being right in the city, even though it sits on the outskirts down by the airport, I was actually blown away by the Sheer size and beauty of the place, this is a extremely well maintained facility with a nice visitor center open Wednesday through Sunday. I believe there are public restrooms, sporadically throughout the trail I chose to walk the loop which is about 5 miles. This refuge is teaming with wildlife tons of turtles small wild animals and is a bird watchers paradise this is a great place to come to if you want to get exercise, bring your family or friends or just to come and relax throughout the trail. You’ll find benches that you can sit alongside the wetlands and just listen to the birds chirping the light wind blowing it’s so calming tons of pictures and videos I’ll attach.

a month agoLocated opposite the airport in the city, this spot offers a scenic trail with beautiful water bodies. It’s not too crowded, making it great for a few hours of hiking. The observation tower provides excellent bird-watching opportunities, and there's a visitor center along with ample parking. Overall, a great place to spend the day.

a month agoThere was a jeep driving extremely fast on the path at the time of closing. Some areas near the water, which are accessed by vehicles, are dug up and muddy in some places, making it look a little less natural and less maintained. We saw a snapping turtle eat a fish. We heard the frogs but didn't see any. We saw signs of beavers in the area. There were gorgeous swans swimming on the water.

2 months agoPeaceful and relaxing nature area with short and long distance trails for walking. Numerous seating areas along the paths. Look for the swan couples and other wildlife calling this place home! Ample signage and maps mean it’s hard to get lost here. Large parking lot and bathrooms are available. Best of all it’s free!
