Lifetime Fitness has been a game-changer for me. The workouts are solid, the people are great—but the cold plunge? Easily my favorite part of the day.

I’ve been a member of Lifetime for four years, and unfortunately, my experience has been more frustrating than enjoyable. The only time I could actually work out in peace was after 9 PM—otherwise, the gym is overcrowded. In the mornings, when I’d prefer to swim or exercise, the pool is taken over by the swim team, and the upstairs area is packed. Another issue is hygiene—why are sweaty members allowed to jump into the jacuzzi fully clothed? It’s unsanitary and shouldn’t be allowed. Since I travel frequently, I’ve had to freeze my membership multiple times to avoid increasing fees, which I assumed was the right thing to do. Last year, my insurance covered Lifetime, but I switched plans this year and wanted to reactivate my membership. However, when I approached customer service, I was told I would be charged as a new member, despite never canceling. Thankfully, Adam, who was very professional, agreed that it wasn’t fair and we reached a compromise—yet I was still charged differently than we had discussed. It’s clear that Lifetime values new members more than loyal, long-term customers. Instead of feeling appreciated, I felt like just another number in their system. I’ve now submitted my cancellation notice and will be taking my business elsewhere—somewhere that actually values its paying customers. Goodbye, Lifetime.

Twice in the last two weeks I have had poor interactions with the girls working the women's locker room. Someone should teach them lessons in customer service and their ultimate place in the club. One time, me and another member were in the middle of changing/getting dressed and the girl working the lockerroom insisted she had to clean the floor in that area right at that very moment and rudely insisted to me and the older woman near me that we need to get out of the way so she can go through with the massive machine... rubbed us both the wrong way we discussed how poor form that was. For one of the most expensive fitness clubs in Austin, costing several hundred a month, this is how the staff treats people? She should wait until the locker room isn't busy to do her closing duties instead of interrupting paying members. This is the first and only time I've experienced treatment like this at Lifetime over the course of being a member for a decade on and off. Further, this past Friday around 3:45PM the locker room girl came into the steam room, while me and 3 other members were relaxing and shouted in that the steam room would now be closing to be cleaned and everyone had to get out immediately... excuse me? wtf... not only is that horrendous from a service perspective, but also the sign on the door says cleaning happens from 2-3 everyday... I've had this happen a few times throughout my time at lifetime, where they clean the steam room not at the time they list they will do so -- EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I have so many other things I need to consider and work around, and to have one of the only times during the week that is truly dedicated to relaxing and my health be cut short or interrupted is beyond annoying. How can one plan? Members shouldnt need to walk on eggshells around the highschool girls working the locker room... maintain a consistent policy or at least put guests first... BUT INTERUPPTING GUESTS TO FULFILL CLOSING DUTIES IS UNNACCEPTABLE AND POOR SERVICE I am bewildered to have had such poor experiences in the locker room in such a short amount of time.. Really makes you reconsider being a member at and paying a club that is one of the most expensive in the city, constantly packed, and employs people who detract more from the guest experience than they add

Lifetime South Austin is an awesome gym. It’s never too crowded when I come. It has all the machines I need for exercise, an indoor and outdoor pool, and sauna. The kids club has been a life saver. The women’s locker room is well kept and clean! The staff are positive and helpful.

Fabulous gym. The sauna and steam rooms are well maintained. They upgraded treadmills just recently, and plenty of machines that even when it’s crowded, you still have a place to go. Love the classes. Some of the yoga classes are more workout focused (blaring club music) which is annoying, still looking for a more traditional eastern yoga class.
