Lost Lake Park

This little slice of river paradise in Fresno is my go-to escape—a peaceful, wide-open wonderland where you can roam to your heart’s content. I love paddling up and down the river; it’s the perfect way to sneak in a quick workout, and best of all, the water is never crowded with other paddlers. Though, fair warning: if it’s not over 90 degrees, the water can feel like a chilly surprise—great for cooling off, but don’t expect a spa experience! The river’s a haven for birdwatchers, with an eclectic mix of species to spot, and if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the river otters doing their thing. There’s trout fishing for the angler at heart, plus a tiny trail for a leisurely walk. If you’re up for an adventure, there's even a small campsite where you can spend the night under the stars, just you and the river. Bathrooms are available, though don’t expect them to be sparkling clean every time (they're a bit hit or miss). Water spouts are scattered across most of the sites, which is handy. And, a quick heads-up—if you’re bringing little swimmers, keep a close eye on them! The river is still a river, with fast currents and plenty of sneaky undercurrents that can easily sweep you off your feet. But with the right caution, it’s a magical spot to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors!

Beautiful area to spend time with family, whether you like fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding or soaking in the sun this is the right spot. Plenty of parking areas, multiple drops for kayaks, light currents so perfect for novice kayakers. There’s a spot in front of the ticket booth that has a beautiful shallow area in the center of the river. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were clean.

Five dollars to enter, but well worth it. A total oasis with flush, not put toilets. The river is nice and cool even in summer with a gentle current. Great for a picnic and a swim with plenty of tables and parking. Also a nice stop for birdwatching. I am looking forward to many more visits.

We like lost lake park a lot. My kids always have fun in the water, even though it's freezing, and they like playing on the rocks down the trail where the Native American grinding stones are. You can tell the trail got really washed out when the river flooded. The water lines are up so high! It is clean enough to walk around. Just be careful on the uneven parts of the trail.

Great place to stay! Was quiet and not too busy. They had a dump station and dumpsters for trash. Everything was clean and the camp host was easy to work with. Be sure to arrive prior to the gate being locked. Check the website for specific times. During our stay it was 10:00. You can go out but not back in the park. We walked down towards the fish hatchery and found many cool areas to get into the shade.
