Beyond the water, an adventure park provides fun options like tubing, go-carts, and mini-golf. While some aspects like lodging and dining quality can be inconsistent, the sheer volume of activities and friendly staff in certain areas make it a popular family destination for those who plan carefully.
Key Highlights
- ✓Indoor Waterpark: Described as an 'absolute blast' with a 'wide variety of attractions available for all ages,' including thrilling water slides, relaxing lazy rivers, and a 'designated kids’ area with shallow pools and fun water features.' - ✓Indoor Waterpark Cleanliness: 'Incredibly clean and well-maintained' with staff 'constantly on the lookout, ensuring everything was tidy and spotless,' making guests 'feel safe and comfortable.'
- ✓Adventure Park Activities: Kids enjoyed the 'bounce house, bumper cars, mini golfing and sluicing for gems at the adventure park.' 'Tubing was great,' and 'go carts' are also available.
- ✓Friendly Service: 'Service at the go carts and tubing areas was great! Really friendly people work here and that was the best part of the place.'

💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →Pack your own food/snacks: Due to expensive and often subpar on-site food, it's advised to 'pack a lunch' or drive '22 minutes away to town to go get better cheaper food.'
- →Avoid the Rec Center Pool: 'Best to just avoid' it due to poor water quality and 'ignorant lifeguards.'
- →Consider waterpark visit on non-busy weekends: The waterpark is 'perfect size for a non busy weekend,' implying it can get uncomfortably crowded otherwise.
- →Be prepared for timeshare sales: The 'VIP tour' includes a '3 hour timeshare sales pitch.'
- →Check restaurant operating hours: One restaurant was 'closed during our visit,' so confirm availability if planning to dine.
- →Factor in wait times for popular activities: Tubing lines can be 25-30 minutes long, significantly reducing actual ride time for the cost.
Things to Consider
- ⚠Outdated Hotel Rooms: 'The Hotel rooms are outdated and the AC barely worked' (specific mention of Hotel 5 room 1507).
- ⚠Poor Rec Center Pool: 'Sucks and is best to just avoid' due to it 'not very kid friendly,' 'life guards are ignorant,' and 'water quality is not good' ('literally will melt your eyes with how strong the chemicals are').
- ⚠Tubing Value & Crowds: Expensive at '$240 for 2 adults and 3 kids for 1.5 hours' with long 'lines take about 25-30 minutes,' resulting in only 'four times' down, described as '2 minutes of fun and 88 minutes of standing in line.'
- ⚠Inconsistent Food Quality & High Prices: Water park food 'just ok' (fries and burgers). Campfire Grill 'just ok food.' Cafeteria food described as 'really bad cafeteria food, and not much of it' for 'over $60.'
- ⚠Dining Seating Issues: Cafeteria tables 'all taken, mostly by people not eating' and 'no one keeps the tables rotating, so people play dominoes, relax, and even have their stuff there while they go do something else for 30 minutes.'
- ⚠Timeshare Sales Pitch: The 'VIP tour' is a '3 hour timeshare sales pitch.'
Price & Value
High for some activities; tubing cost '$240 for 2 adults and 3 kids for 1.5 hours' resulting in only 4 rides, perceived as very poor value ('2 minutes of fun and 88 minutes of standing in line'). On-site food is expensive and often poor quality; '$60' for 'really bad cafeteria food.' Strong suggestion to 'pack a lunch' to avoid overspending and improve experience.

- •Strongly recommended to 'pack a lunch' or drive '22 minutes away to town to go get better cheaper food' due to on-site prices and quality.

👥Crowd Levels
- •Indoor Waterpark: 'Perfect size for a non busy weekend,' suggesting it can get crowded during busy periods.
- •Tubing: Lines are consistently long, 'take about 25-30 minutes.'
- •Dining Areas: Cafeteria tables are often 'all taken, mostly by people not eating,' indicating potential difficulty finding seating during peak times.
🛡️Safety Features

- • Relying solely on on-site cafeteria/waterpark food: If you are looking for good quality, value, or variety.
- • Taking the VIP tour if you have no interest in timeshares.

a week agoThe Hotel rooms are outdated and the AC barely worked in our room in Hotel 5 room 1507. We didn’t complain because we would have had to pack up and drive back down to the main office and then go move in a new room. We dod the vip tour which is a 3 hour timeshare sales pitch. It wasn’t for us but if you are looking for a tine share it sounded nicer than others. The water park is nice and perfect size for a non busy weekend. The food at the water park was just ok but it did the job. Fries and burgers type stuff. The restaurant was closed during our visit. The campfire grill is just ok food as well. Much better than the water park food. We drove in to town to go get better cheaper food. 22 minutes away to town. The service at the go carts and tubing areas was great! Really friendly people work here and that was the best part of the place. The tubing was great. The kids enjoyed the bounce house bumper cars mini golfing and sluicing for gems at the adventure park.

2 weeks agoResort is nice in regards to rooms, property, overall appearance etc. Pool at the rec center/ main building sucks and is best to just avoid. Not very kid friendly, life guards are ignorant and water quality is not good. Literally will melt your eyes with how strong the chemicals are. Nice place to stay and quiet, just look elsewhere for activities.

a month agoA Perfect Family Getaway: Our time at the Massanutten Resort was an absolute blast, especially our time spent at the indoor waterpark! From the moment we stepped inside, we were immediately impressed by the wide variety of attractions available for all ages. There was something for everyone—thrilling water slides, relaxing lazy rivers, and even a designated kids’ area with shallow pools and fun water features. Whether you're a toddler or someone looking for a bit of excitement, this waterpark has something for every member of the family, making it the ultimate family-friendly destination. What truly stood out to us was how incredibly clean and well-maintained the entire waterpark area was. The staff was constantly on the lookout, ensuring everything was tidy and spotless, making us feel safe and comfortable the whole time. It's so refreshing to experience a facility where cleanliness is clearly a top priority. Another perk that we absolutely loved was the convenience of having dining options right on-site. After all the fun in the water, it was great not having to leave the resort for a bite to eat. Whether you’re craving a quick snack or a more substantial meal, the resort’s dining options provided delicious meals that hit the spot. It made our visit so much more relaxing and hassle-free. We’re already looking forward to returning this summer to experience the outdoor waterpark! Massanutten Resort has truly proven to be an amazing family-friendly destination, and we’ll definitely be back to make more memories. Highly recommend!

a week agoThere is something for people of all ages to do! And if you just want to stay in your room and do nothing, you can do that too and open the curtains and enjoy the scenery. You are sure to see 🦌 deer, moles, coons, even a skunk or two. They won't bother you if you don't bother them. There are so many nature trials, bungee jumping, zip-lines, bump cars 🚗, go carts, horse back riding, water park, fishing, pools, live entertainment, on site restaurants and so much more!

3 months agoI only went for tubing but I think I have a feel for the resort. To start with the tubing, it cost $240 for 2 adults and 3 kids for 1.5 hours of tubing. The lines take about 25-30 minutes, so we got to go down four times. We essentially paid for 2 minutes of fun and 88 minutes of standing in line. We tried to grab something to eat after buying our tickets. For really bad cafeteria food, and not much of it, we paid over $60. We couldn't sit to eat because the tables were all taken, mostly by people not eating. No one keeps the tables rotating, so people play dominoes, relax, and even have their stuff there while they go do something else for 30 minutes. I'm sure a lot of people love this place, so my last opinion is probably only for some. Massanutten is basically like Six Flags. If you're looking for a comfy snow resort, this place is not worth the drive. I would pack a lunch, enjoy the rides, and be gone before you spend $500 there. Or just don't go.
