5 months agoThis gym has been without functioning AC for the entire summer of 2024. I would wait until the weather cools down before visiting. An additional downside to the heat is that the gym smells like a sweaty locker room. Management has not explained what the issue is, and it’s unclear why the issue has persisted for so long during the hottest part of the year. Management says that they have been in “constant communication” with their HVAC company, but this communication still hasn’t translated into a functional AC system and more reasonable temperatures. Momentum has not maintained the Silver Street location and it is no longer on par with other modern gyms or the $84/mo price tag. A new bouldering gym is under construction about 10 minutes away, scheduled for completion in 2025. On the plus side, bouldering is a good activity and gym also has cardio and weightlifting equipment.

3 months agoI brought my family here for climbing and they had a wonderful time! The staff is so great. Tyler helped us out with selecting shoes, and he was more than happy to help when we asked to switch shoes for my little brother later when they didn't fit him well. Awesome place!

2 weeks agoMomentum Climbing Gyms in Houston have been a decent option for indoor climbing, but the recent price hike to $100 a month is both disappointing and difficult to justify. Having recently moved from DFW, where student memberships are $65 with access to six exceptional facilities, the comparison is staggering. Houston only has two locations, and while they are nice, they lack updates and are subpar for what you’d expect at this price point. Charging significantly more for less is exploitative, pricing out students and young adults and undermining the sense of community that Momentum prides itself on. The promise of opening another bouldering gym in the future does not justify this increase—it is nothing less than corporate greed. Momentum needs to rethink this decision and focus on improving its facilities by addressing much-needed renovations, resolving setting inconsistencies, maintaining basic hygiene, and investing in a dependable AC unit. Until then, I’m canceling my membership. I refuse to support a business that exploits its community simply because it’s the only option.
