Expert Summary

Detailed Insights

New Orleans Ghost Adventures Tours offers highly engaging and informative ghost tours, particularly noted for their exceptional guides who are skilled storytellers. While some tours cater to adults (e.g., haunted bar crawls), there are options that have proven to be a big hit with pre-teens, specifically a 10-year-old who was 'hanging off every word.' The unique value lies in the guides' ability to entertain and educate, making history and ghost stories come alive for various age groups.

Key Highlights

  • Guides are consistently praised for being funny, knowledgeable, engaging, and excellent storytellers (e.g., DJ, Orion, Gomez, Sean).
  • One specific guide, Gomez, captivated a 10-year-old daughter who 'hasn't stopped talking about how cool it was,' even singing for the group.
  • Stories are described as fun, informative, and entertaining, blending ghost lore with city history.
  • Booking is easy and done via an app, with clear instructions and convenient meeting points.
  • Guides like Orion are noted for offering to accommodate participants, suggesting flexibility during the tour.

Standout Features

  • Exceptional and entertaining tour guides who can adapt to the audience (e.g., Gomez singing for families, Orion offering accommodations).
  • Ability of guides to blend history with captivating ghost stories.
  • Ease of booking through an app and clear communication for meeting points.
  • The tours provide recommendations for other local attractions and directions back to the starting point.

Perfect For

Excellent for pre-teens and early teenagers (specifically a 10-year-old was highly engaged and enjoyed it immensely).
Likely suitable for children 8+ who are not easily frightened and have an interest in history or spooky stories.
The 'haunted bar crawl' is strictly for adults (18+ or 21+ due to alcohol involvement).

Ideal For

Families with pre-teen children (8-12+) interested in historical ghost stories and interactive experiences.
Parents seeking an engaging and personable guide who can captivate children.
Halloween-themed family outings for older children.
Adults looking for a fun and informative evening, especially the 'haunted bar crawl' option.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Crucially, verify the specific tour type before booking, as some are adult-oriented ('haunted bar crawl') and unsuitable for children.
  • If booking for a child, consider requesting guides like Gomez or Orion, who received specific praise for engagement and accommodation.
  • Be prepared for walking through the French Quarter for some tours; others may involve van transportation (as per Review 5).
  • Bring a camera if you wish to take many photos, as one tour style had limited photo stops (according to Review 5).

Things to Consider

  • One specific tour is explicitly a 'haunted bar crawl' involving stops for 'good dranks,' making it entirely unsuitable for children.
  • The nature of ghost stories means some content may be too scary or intense for very young or highly sensitive children.
  • One tour participant wished for more frequent stops to take pictures of sights, which might indicate a faster pace or more driving in some tour types.

Price & Value

The tours are described as 'worth every penny' and 'reasonable for the value.' No specific pricing details are provided in the reviews.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • One guide (Orion) offered to 'accommodate anyone that needed it,' suggesting a general willingness to be flexible, but no specific disability accommodations are mentioned.
  • Some tours are walking tours in the French Quarter; one review mentioned a 'van,' which might offer different accessibility options depending on the vehicle.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • The 'haunted bar crawl' explicitly involves stops for 'dranks' (alcoholic beverages).
  • No information is provided regarding food or beverages on other tours, or policies for bringing outside food/drink.

🚗Parking Info

  • The meeting location is convenient with 'parking lots to the right and left of the destination,' suggesting easy access for those driving.

👥Crowd Levels

  • One review mentioned getting 'caught in a second line march' in the French Quarter, implying general street crowds, but no specific information about the tour group size or internal crowd levels is provided.

🛡️Safety Features

  • No specific safety features for children or general tour safety measures are mentioned in the provided reviews.

When to Avoid

  • The 'haunted bar crawl' if you are with children, due to its adult-oriented nature and alcohol stops.
  • This experience for very young children (under 7-8) or those who are easily scared by ghost stories, as the content can be intense.
  • Expecting frequent photo opportunities on all tours; some van-based tours may have fewer stops for pictures.

First time in NOLA and had to do a haunted bar crawl, of course! Chose this tour since it had a ton of great reviews. Didn’t disappoint! Our guide, DJ, was funny, knowledgeable and made the tour worth every penny! 2 hours flew by as we made our way through the French Quarter, making stops at a few bars for good stories, good times and of course, good dranks ;)! Book this tour and hope you get D.J. - the dude is top notch! Cheers!

My sister and I went on the Ghost Tour and had the pleasure of having Orion as our guide into the amazing stories of New Orleans ghosts as well as the history of the city. The stories were fun and informative. We even decided to have dinner at Muriel's the next night due to his recommendation and it was delicious. Booking was easy and the meeting place was easy to find. Orion started the tour off with some very light expectations and his offer to accommodate anyone that needed it showed a concern that is not usually received on tours like this. I highly recommend the tour, especially if you get Orion as your guide.

The best tour Ive ever taken! My guide was Gomez. I took the tour as something fun to do for my 10 year old daughter and was surprised at how much we all enjoyed it. She was hanging off his every word and hasn't stopped talking about how cool it was. Gomez is a very good story teller, he kept us entertained with the ghost stories. The cherry on top was that he sang for us at the end of the tour as we made our way to the final stop. He also provided recommendations for other tours they offer as well as other attractions in the city and directions on getting back to the starting point. In my book this is a must do. You will for sure enjoy it!

Booking was simple; in my app. Instructions were clear. Meet up location was convenient with parking lots to the right and left of the destination. Price was reasonable for the value. Sean was our guide and he was funny, engaging, personable … the van was comfortable enough to ride around in. My only complaint is I wish we stopped more often to actually take pictures of the sights.
