a week agoProbably the most beautiful place I've been to in Ohio. The terrain is rugged but very interesting. There are a wide variety of trails here. We combined several of them in a loop of about 9 miles, and it went around all the major areas of the park. (Waterfall to Museum to Overlook to Castle Valley to Squires to Hemlock). Absolutely worth your time. Be cautioned that the trails do get muddy, but the views are well worth it.

10 months agoVery well kept relaxing reserve with small trails and a small lake with 2 fishing docks, allowing you to walk around and enjoy the water and wildlife. Recommended for dog lovers, small or large groups, families, and if you're alone and just want to clear your mind (as with any park stick to daylight hours altho this seems to be one of the busier ones). If you don't like the geese then you can sit by the lake (one side has chairs, the other side has grass but can be untidy because of the geese). There are quiet a few other trails including a horse riding trail as well, so look for trail markers. Other trails it connects to include Strawberry lane and Buttermilk falls, and a number of large spacious picnic areas. The picnic shelter specific to that area (Strawberry Shelter) is very large and clean, and seems able to handle up to 50 or so people with a dedicated delivery and parking lane, and up to 4 grilling fire spots. Always a relaxing place to visit with lots to see.

10 months agoThis is one of my favorite parks EVER!!!!! There are paved trails and non paved trails, butter milk falls is very nice. Squire’s castle is very rich with history, there is a picnic table that’s hidden but you can eat in the nature center. The amount of birds is amazing for bird watchers and photographers like me! The nature center has bird feeders outside a window, and restrooms, even a gift shop and event room. Overall 10/10 (5.0 stars).

9 months agoIt's been awhile since last here, so tonight we grabbed some take out and ate dinner at the Strawberry Shelter picnic area. We used the various tables vs. the pavilion. The area wasn't busy and the weather was awesome. After eating, we checked out the actual pavilion area which is very spacious and looks like a great space. We walked around a portion of the trails and checked out Strawberry Pond nearby and then stopped at Buttermilk Falls on our way out. We've been to Squires Castle numerous times before and the nature center. Overall, very enjoyable park lots of walking/hiking trails.

10 months agoI thoroughly enjoyed exploring this park. It is lush with flora and wildlife. It was so peaceful. I stopped by the pond and saw a water snake and a turtle or two. There are well-kept walking trails, a fishing hole and a lot of picnic areas. I highly recommend.
