Northeast Community Center

If you are looking for a community focused place to gather and work out with no judgement from others this is your place! The facilities are dated and equipment, while a great variety, is well used. It's not fancy, but if you want to feel comfortable it's fantastic!

Been going to the NECC since I was a year old, it’s an amazing place and my family goes here all the time. One of the nicest community centers with fun activities. Great memories from playing for their basketball league when I was younger and their is so many fun things you can do from the swim team to open gym basketball to their youth sections just makes it the best place.

Our family has belonged off and on since it was still the YMCA. Just rejoined in September, I come primarily for the pool. Yes, it's not as fancy as a 24 Hour Fitness Center but if that's what you want, it's right around the corner. I find it to be clean enough for me, but it's not a brand new facility by any means. Always a smile from the front desk when I check in and the other members are friendly and welcoming. If you are a senior and have a 'Silver Sneakers' type benefit you can use it to join. A real COMMUNITY center, members are mostly from the immediate area.

I go to Zumba on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Marlon is one of the best Zumba teachers I have ever had. He is incredibly accommodating, often offering alternative moves for people who have bad knees, bad shoulders, etc.. The class is more intermediate, so it can be hard to keep up with him at first, but I find his Zumba class challenging, engaging, and fun. He also makes the class feel inclusive and safe. I am trans and fat and I have never felt judged by him or anyone else at this gym.

My daughters have taken swimming lessons here for over a year. My oldest just started after care. They love it and the staff and coaches are always welcoming and patient. I also appreciate that there is diversity in the staff and members. Great community center!
