Northern Quest Resort & Casino
Overview
Expert Summary
Detailed Insights
This venue primarily functions as a full-service resort and casino with a hotel, multiple dining options, and an RV park. While marketed as an 'Indoor Water Parks business,' the reviews provide very little detail or positive feedback on the water park itself. The 'kids area' is explicitly stated to be a paid hourly daycare, not an interactive play space. The value proposition for families seems to be more about a comfortable stay, good dining, and access to paid childcare while parents use other resort amenities, rather than a dedicated water park experience.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →**Confirm water park/pool operating hours before booking, especially if traveling early in the season**, as it may be closed.
- →**Bring your own pool towels or be prepared for the inconvenient towel policy and a $25 replacement fee.**
- →Bring reusable water bottles, as water refill stations are scarce (only a drinking fountain in the lobby).
- →If staying in the River Tower, prepare for longer walks to reach amenities.
- →Be aware that the 'cool kids area' is a paid hourly daycare, not a free recreational play zone.
- →Exercise caution and supervise children closely when walking through parking lots due to reported cleanliness issues.
- →Consider securing valuables, even in locked rooms, given past theft allegations.
Things to Consider
- ⚠**Significant inconvenience regarding pool towels:** Guests must bring towels from their room, there is a $25 fee for a missing towel, and wet towels can only be swapped via room service at your room (not pool-side).
- ⚠No readily available water refill stations, only a drinking fountain in the lobby.
- ⚠Tiny garbage cans in rooms and no garbage cans found on hotel floors.
- ⚠Restrictive elevator key access: room key only works for your floor, preventing kids from visiting friends on other floors.
- ⚠Rooms in the 'River Tower' are a long walk from main amenities.
- ⚠Refrigerators in rooms are described as getting smaller, limiting family food storage.
- ⚠**The advertised 'cool kids area' is only a paid hourly daycare, not a free play space.** This is a major point of confusion/disappointment for parents.
- ⚠**Major cleanliness issue reported in parking lots with used condoms visible over multiple days.** This poses a significant health and safety concern for families.
- ⚠The pool/water park may not be open early in the season, which is critical for an 'Indoor Water Parks business'.
- ⚠Allegations of hotel staff theft from locked rooms and subsequent lack of follow-up from management are a serious concern for security and trust (though one staff member, Mischa, was praised for later problem-solving).
Price & Value
The value proposition for families is mixed. While hotel rooms and dining are generally well-regarded, there are notable hidden costs and inconveniences: a $25 fee for missing pool towels, a paid laundry facility in the RV park, and the 'kids area' being a paid hourly daycare rather than an included amenity. No specific water park admission fees were mentioned, which is unusual for a business categorized as such, further suggesting it might not be a prominent, stand-alone offering.
♿Accessibility & Special Needs
- •No specific special needs accommodations mentioned in the reviews.
🍎Food & Drink Policy
- •Multiple on-site dining options (Neon Pizza, Epic, Masselows) are available and well-regarded for quality and service.
- •Room refrigerators are described as getting smaller, which could impact families bringing their own food/drinks.
🚗Parking Info
- •Free shuttle service is provided for RV park guests to the hotel/casino.
- •Parking lots are available, but cleanliness was a significant concern (used condoms reported).
👥Crowd Levels
- •RV camping area was quiet 'early in the season' with hardly any campers.
- •No information provided about crowd levels for the water park or other main resort areas.
🛡️Safety Features
- •Room keys are restricted to specific floors in elevators, which can be a security feature.
- •Serious safety/trust concerns raised by reports of used condoms in parking lots and allegations of staff theft from rooms.
⏰When to Avoid
- • **If your primary purpose is an indoor water park experience, as reviews do not highlight this aspect positively and indicate potential closure early season or inconvenient towel policies.**
- • Visiting if you expect a free, interactive 'kids area' for children, as it's a paid hourly daycare.
- • Walking through parking lots unsupervised with young children due to reported cleanliness issues.
- • Leaving valuable items unsecured in hotel rooms due to past theft allegations.
- • Staying in the River Tower if you prefer quick access to all amenities, especially with small children.

a week agoLove the hotel and staff, they made our stay there great. The casino was horrible. The games are fun, but were dirty on Thursday and Friday. Had 2 nice bonus set of spins on 2 different machines that the payouts was so bad I will not be going back for a good long time. One was on a 80 cent bet with 25 free spins made a total of $1.80. The other was on a $1.25 bet 55 spins and over 40 spins had nothing paid out not even 10 cents . Every machine had horrible payouts which ruined our stay.

a month agoThe rooms are clean. Shower is great. Service/accommodations are a hassle. Pool towels have to be bright from your room and there’s a $25 fee if one goes missing. If it’s wet and you want a new one you have to have room service meet you at your room to swap it. Yes, when a kid threw my daughters towel in the pool I had to go back to my room which is not close to get a new towel. There is a tiny garbage can in your room and no garbage cans in the floors to be found. No place to fill up water other than a drinking fountain in the lobby. Is it so hard to add a fill station next to the ice machine? Room key only works for your floor in elevator so when kids want to go to another floor to hang with a volleyball teammate, they can’t. If you’re in the river tower it’s a long walk to everything. They make it look like it has a cool kids area but it’s only a paid hourly day care. The refrigerators keep getting smaller. Hotel staff was professional. Neon Pizza makes a really good pizza.

a month agoWe stayed during the week this past week in the Rv camping area. It was wonderful. We had power and water and a gas fire pit. Because it was early in the season there were hardly any campers. They have bathroom and shower facilities that were kept very clean. They also had a laundry facility you could use but had to pay for. The pool wasn’t open yet but we could use the excercise room. We gambled all week and Tuesdays they had $2 drinks and other $2 specials all day! Wednesday was Senior day so we took advantage of that also. The staff was great, nice and always very helpful. Even janitors were helpful if we had a question! We ate at Epic twice and thought the food was great! Husband had the steelhead and I had a bbq beef sandwich lunch special. Our friend had the chili dog with waffle fries and it was HUGE and also very good. Our last day we had breakfast at Masselows up by the hotel and it was amazing! I’ll included photos of that. I had a small omelet and husband had the breakfast burrito and we split a waffle. They added strawberries for us! We had to take a lot of it home with us. The best part was really the service we received from our server named Melissa! She is definitely a 5star server and they are lucky to have her. We felt very pampered by her. We even mentioned we felt like we were on a cruise. We’ve started to call NQ “Little Vegas” because we don’t even like to go to Vegas anymore. We feel like we have everything we need right here 40 miles away from our home! We also definitely appreciated the free shuttle to and from the Rv camping to the hotel. There were only two things that keep me from giving it 5 star and that’s that they don’t have pickleball courts for staying guests in the hotel or RV park. We feel that would really be a huge draw. The other thing was sadly there a couple times we walked to and from the casino over the course of many days and there were used condoms laying in the parking lots. My husband and I both thought they would have parking lot clean up and check for things like that but many days went by and we’d see them still there. Sadly there were multiple places we saw them. Other than that we had a great time and can’t wait to come back for my Birthday in May!🎂🎉

a month agoNorthern Quest is one of our favorite casinos to visit. Always so much fun. Always have an awesome concert line up every year. Just go. Someone in our group always wins big every time we go. The bars have great service and food. Always a great time. The rooms are quite spacious and clean.

a month agoUpdate An employee like Mischa (spelling?) would have been great to hear from in the beginning and her problem solving skills are amazing. We didn't get our property back but, she did some research and gave me an update within hours. She also offered an apology, which was genuine. We will return to Northern Quest and hopefully Mischa is allowed to offer her skills to other employees in the form of customer care training. Thank you Mischa Unfortunately hotel staff stole my watch from our locked room after we left. For 6 weeks I have been getting the runaround. NOBODY calls back or follows up. The location was physically turned off on the watch 4 hours after we left, inside the hotel. There's no grey area. Instead of ANY offer of compensation, I was told to read the part of my receipt. 😔 sad. We like the hotel, casino and staff overall. But this experience has been awful. Denial and portrayed ignorance is not an acceptable solution.
