a month agoMy son, age 8, connected so much with the place! We got him the explorer’s backpack that they rent and he had such a big smile on his face exploring and using all the gear (microscope, field guides, animal book, magnifying glass, a notebook to draw what you find) in the backpack. We saw a trilobite fossil, wild turkeys, owl pellets, salamanders, and a hawk. We loved seeing all the owls as you come into the visitor center. The trails were very quiet and peaceful. This place had a very special vibe!

5 months agoWas lucky enough to be visiting during Owl Day. It included a presentation all about the owls with up close and personal viewings of three different resident owls. Afterwards we dissected owl pellets and then made a fun little owl ornament for a keepsake. Believe it or not it was a perfect girls trip stop on our itinerary!

3 weeks agoIt’s quite and beautiful out there. Part of the red trial is quite steep. Also saw a turkey running in front of me.

2 months agoWhat a great place to visit. We enjoy their Homeschool Days: educational, lots of interaction for various ages to enjoy, great spot to view birds and other wildlife, and even ate lunch afterwards! Looking forward to visiting again soon!

a year agoI found this place online. The drive was a little scary, but it was overall a very gorgeous location. I think their mission is very noble with the owls and I loved seeing them. Was described as something with different trails of easy to hard difficulties. Although true, I think there should be a disclaimer that this isn't exactly a city folk friendly site. I don't really enjoy having to walk through massive spider webs, avoiding bees and wasps, or having to worry about chiggers/ticks. I realized we probably should've been in boots and long pants but attempted anyway. No one's fault other than my own, but I didn't enjoy my hike 😅
