Expert Summary

Detailed Insights

Palm Island Indoor Waterpark offers an inexpensive indoor waterpark experience primarily for young children (under 10), providing a 'great deal' for families on a budget. While the waterpark itself can be enjoyable for this age group, the attached hotel facilities frequently suffer from significant maintenance and cleanliness issues, creating a highly polarized experience for guests.

Key Highlights

  • Waterpark provides plenty of activities and fun for children under 10 years old.
  • Rooms, when clean and functional, can be spacious and include amenities like a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker.
  • Continental breakfast offers a good selection, including a hot bar.
  • Arcade available in two sections of the hotel for additional entertainment.
  • Ice cream vending machine on-site.
  • Staff working at both the hotel and waterpark are generally described as pleasant and helpful.

Standout Features

  • The waterpark itself, offering entertainment for younger kids.
  • In-room amenities (when working) such as microwave, fridge, and coffee maker.
  • Continental breakfast with a variety of options, including a hot bar.
  • Arcade games available in two different sections of the hotel.
  • On-site ice cream vending machine.
  • Friendly and helpful staff.

Perfect For

Best for children under 10 years old, as they had a blast and found 'plenty to do'.
Older children would likely get bored quickly, as activities are not designed for them.

Ideal For

Families with children aged approximately 2-9 years old looking for an inexpensive, budget-friendly indoor waterpark experience.
A short getaway where the primary focus is on water play for younger kids, and hotel amenities are secondary.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • If booking a room at the attached Quality Inn, strongly consider asking to see the room before checking in due to reported poor conditions and cleanliness issues.
  • Confirm the water park's exact operating hours before visiting, especially for weekdays, as they can be very limited (e.g., only 3 hours/day).
  • Bring cash if you anticipate needing it, as hotel ATMs may not be working.
  • Manage expectations regarding the hotel's condition; it is often described as dated and in need of repair.

Things to Consider

  • The attached hotel (often described as Quality Inn) is frequently reported to be in very poor condition, 'dated,' 'neglected,' and in need of a 'redo.'
  • Major cleanliness issues reported in both the waterpark and hotel rooms (e.g., waterpark needing scrubbing, stains on furniture, clump of hair on desk, cockroaches in rooms).
  • Hotel rooms can have significant functional problems, including non-working bathroom lights, sinks, or showers.
  • Guests reported trouble getting into rooms with key cards.
  • Strong unpleasant odors in the hotel, such as 'old folks home smell' and cigarette smoke.
  • Water park has very limited operating hours on weekdays (only 3 hours/day); weekend hours are uncertain.
  • No restaurant on-site.
  • ATMs in the hotel were reported as non-functional.
  • WiFi seems to be shut off at night.
  • Some guests felt the surrounding area looked 'ghetto' and 'not safe for kids.'

Price & Value

Described as 'a great deal,' 'inexpensive little get away,' and 'cheap enough.' The value proposition is based on its affordability for an indoor waterpark, but this comes with significant trade-offs in hotel quality and cleanliness. Some guests were charged for rooms they couldn't stay in due to severe issues.

I read the reviews and was scared. But it's such a great deal. None of the reviews I read were accurate. Our room was clean and spacious. Came with microwave fridge and coffee. Kids had a blast and the place plenty to do. It's best for under 10 years old.

Never even saw the water park. The condition of the attached hotel was so bad I left shortly after checking in. And they still charged me for the room! I highly recommend you do not book a room at the attached Quality Inn Hotel. Or at least ask to see the room before you check in.

This place was not clean at all!! The water park especially was not clean you can definitely see that they need scrubbed. Stains on the couch and chair a clump of someone else's hair on the desk🤮. My friends room had a cockroach in it, there bathroom light didn't work nor sink nor shower worked. We both had trouble getting into the rooms with the key cards. I recommend not going at all!! When you get there it looks like the ghetto and not safe for kids. We left and ended up at a much better hotel!!

The rooms and hotel we're a little dated like they built it and forgot to hire a maintenance crew. The park was great my girls loved it but if u have older children they would get bored quickly. I was impressed by the continental breakfast and hey had alot to choose from and a hot bar it was great! It was nice they had an arcade in to sections of the hotel and an ice cream vending machine. Although none of the ATM s worked in the hotel it was kind of inconvenient. Everyone working the hotel and water park was very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely go back it's an inexpensive little get away for us.

Hotel needs a redo...which they said is going to happen....new owners. No restaurant....water park was only open 3 hours/day weekdays. Not sure about weekend. Bathroom very neglected and fan not working. The whole hotel has an old folks home smell and a lot of cigarette smoke odour. Wifi seems to be shut off at night. Good location and cheap enough but definitely needs improvement.
