Expert Summary

Detailed Insights

Parrot Cove offers an indoor water park experience featuring a mix of slides and a lazy river, suitable for a range of ages from young children (with slides for those under 4'8") up to teenagers. When not overcrowded, it can provide a day of entertainment, particularly for families looking for specific slides like the 'yellow & blue' or 'orange and yellow' options.

Key Highlights

  • Age-Diverse Appeal: Caters to both younger kids with specific slides for under 4'8" and appeals to teenagers.
  • Variety of Rides: Features 'yellow & blue slide' which was described as awesome, 'orange and yellow slide for under 4’8' which were nice, and a lazy river.
  • Manageable Size: Described as 'not too small not too big just perfect' and a 'great little indoor water park' by some reviewers.
  • Potential for Moderate Crowds: Can be 'not over crowded' during certain visits.

Standout Features

  • The 'yellow & blue slide' was highlighted as awesome.
  • The 'orange and yellow slide for under 4’8' are suitable for younger/shorter guests.
  • The lazy river provides a relaxing option, though its temperature can be a drawback.
  • Offers a variety of slides that can entertain different age groups.

Perfect For

Toddlers/Young Children (under 4'8"): Has 'orange and yellow slide for under 4’8' that are 'nice'. However, young children (under 3'0) can be overly rambunctious in shared spaces like the lazy river. A 5-year-old had a very negative experience with staff.
Older Kids/Pre-Teens: General 'great place for kids!' with 'yellow & blue slide' described as awesome.
Teenagers: Described as 'very nice water parks for teenagers!'.
All Ages: Generally considered 'Fun for all ages'.

Ideal For

Families looking for an indoor water park that offers a mix of slides for different ages (from younger kids to teens).
A day trip when you are prepared to be highly vigilant about safety and cleanliness yourself.
Families whose primary interest is experiencing the specific 'yellow & blue' or 'orange and yellow (under 4'8")' slides.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Monitor Children Closely: Do not rely solely on lifeguards, as their attentiveness and willingness to act have been called into question.
  • Verify Rules Upon Entry: Be aware that rules, especially concerning life jackets and slides, may change arbitrarily by staff.
  • Prepare for Odor: Expect a strong, unpleasant 'sewer gas' smell upon entering the facility.
  • Dress Warmly for Lazy River: The lazy river water temperature can be chilly.
  • Inquire About Non-Swimmer Costs: If you are a parent only planning to watch, be aware you may be charged full price.
  • Adhere to Bag Policy: While the 'clear bags only' policy seems inconsistently enforced, it's best to comply to avoid issues.
  • Consider Off-Peak Visits: To mitigate issues with overcrowding and potential staff inattentiveness, consider visiting during less busy times.

Things to Consider

  • Critical Safety Lapses: Reports of lifeguards refusing to enter water to save a child, arbitrary rule changes (e.g., life jacket policy for a 5-year-old), and a manager excusing negligence due to lifeguards being 'teens'. Staff described as inattentive and 'too busy chatting'.
  • Unprofessional/Rude Staff: Lifeguards described as rude, ego-driven, and dismissive, even laughing at a child's distress.
  • Persistent Odor Issue: Multiple mentions of an 'awful smell' or 'sewer gas smell' upon entry.
  • Cleanliness Problems: Reports of the park being 'dirty' overall, with 'mushy food on the ground' in the food court and 'gum on the floor' in walking areas.
  • Chilly Lazy River: Family members reported the lazy river water temperature as 'chilly'.
  • Inconsistent Policies/Enforcement: Rules regarding life jackets on slides can change without warning, and the 'clear bags only' policy is reportedly inconsistently enforced (allowing designer purses).
  • Non-Swimmer Fees: Parents reported having to pay 'full price to just watch my kids', making it expensive for non-participating guardians.
  • Injury Risk: One reviewer fell off a floater and hit their head on the purple slide.
  • Overcrowding: Can be 'way too many people' at peak times, leading to issues like young children pulling hair/legs in the lazy river.

Price & Value

The value is questionable given severe safety, cleanliness, and staff conduct issues. One reviewer found it unacceptable to pay 'full price to just watch' their kids. The policy against outside bags/coolers suggests reliance on potentially expensive on-site food, though no specific food prices were mentioned.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility features or accommodations were mentioned in the reviews.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • No Outside Food/Coolers: Reviewer implies a restrictive policy by stating they would 'go elsewhere that will allow our bags/cooler in also'.
  • Bag Policy: 'Clear bags only' is the stated policy, but it was noted to be inconsistently enforced ('your designer purse is more than allowed!').
  • On-Site Food: A 'food court' exists but was described as 'full of mushy food on the ground', suggesting poor hygiene. No specific pricing or menu details beyond this observation.

🚗Parking Info

  • No information about parking was provided in the reviews.

👥Crowd Levels

  • Variable: Can be 'not over crowded' at times (Review 4) but also 'way too many people' at others (Review 5).
  • Behavioral Note: Younger children (under 3'0) can be overly rambunctious in crowded areas like the lazy river.

🛡️Safety Features

  • Lifeguards Present (but unreliable): Lifeguards are staffed, but there are severe reports of negligence (refusing to save kids), inattentiveness ('too busy chatting'), and arbitrary rule changes regarding life jackets.
  • Manager Response: Management reportedly excused lifeguard negligence due to their age, indicating a lack of accountability.
  • Slide Safety Incidents: One specific slide (purple slide) led to a reviewer falling off a floater and hitting their head.
  • No Visible Proactive Safety Measures: No positive mentions of explicit proactive safety measures beyond the presence of lifeguards, whose efficacy is heavily questioned.

When to Avoid

  • If you prioritize stringent safety standards and highly professional, attentive lifeguard staff.
  • If strong, unpleasant odors or visible dirtiness are deal-breakers for your family.
  • If you plan to bring outside food/coolers, or if paying full price as a non-swimming spectator is unacceptable.
  • If your child is sensitive to arbitrary rule changes or potential staff rudeness/embarrassment.
  • During peak times when it might be 'way too many people' and staff supervision might be even more stretched.

Worst water park ever. My daughter was allowed on the slides all day. Lifeguards made comments about not wanting to get into the water to save a little girl under water and then didn’t get into the water. Someone else had to. All of a sudden my daughter wasn’t allowed to wear her life jacket on the slides. But was told she could still go just without a life jacket. When asking the life guard about it by my daughters best friends mom we went to get a raft for her and her dad to go and then the life guard decided my child wasn’t allowed on it at all. All because her ego was hurt that she was asked why she switched rules all of a sudden. When my daughter and her dad came back down the stairs after being told no again and I confronted the lifeguard named Deja she smirked and laughed at the fact that she not only hurt a 5 year olds feelings but embarrassed her. The manager didn’t care that his lifeguards refused to get out and save kids that were under water and used the excuse that they are teens. I’m waiting for this place to be on the news for being sued for wrongful death. 0/10 will never go again. Not to mention it was dirty.

Been coming for a long time. I have never had to pay to just watch my kids. I understand a small fee but full price to watch? I'll make the drive and go elsewhere that will allow our bags/cooler in also. Will also make note the stinch that another person commented.. that awful smell is still there as you walk in. Lazy river was chilly per family. Otherwise other was ok.

Great little indoor water park for a day out to have fun! Fun for all ages. Would have loved to have the lazy river be warmer than it was but over all the entire park was pretty nice. It wasn't over crowded when we went and everything seemed pretty clean.

Smells awful when you first walk in. Sewer gas smell. Way too many people. Staff is extremely rude. Didn't seem like they were really paying attention to the swimmers. Too busy chatting. Food court was full of mushy food on the ground. Gum on the floor of the walking area between pools. Clear bags only but don't worry ladies, ypur designer purse is more than allowed! Will not be returning!
