4 months agoA very nice public park with about twelve miles of easy walking trails, some by the Penasquitos Creek and Waterfall. It stretches through a diverse canyon area in the suburban San Diego sprawl. Horses and mountain bikes are allowed on the trails.

a week agoThe walk there is about 4 miles and 4 miles back. It's kid, dog, and horse friendly. There is a river and lots of trees. The water fall is beautiful also. Don't walk alone. There are cougars, big deer, bobcats, and coyotes... oh and snakes. I left my family and ended up walking alone, scaryyyy. I was so afraid and praying, lol.

a year agoNot a bad spot for a 7.5 mile or longer hike in your backyard. Waterfall was a good feature though busy with lots of people.

a year ago1st time here. It was an easy and flat trail. We stopped at the waterfall for 15 mins, and it was pretty peaceful. We are definitely coming back.

5 years agoLos Penasquitos Canyon and the Penasquitos Creek Loop Trail are awesome. Temp on the February day I hiked was 50F when I started and around 64F by the time I finished - beautiful hiking weather. Being a Friday, trail wasn't crowded. Creek had plenty of water (unlike the summer months) and the "waterfall" was falling. Saw plenty of crows, a few hawks, and 1 coyote. Overall a very peaceful place with only the birds and running creek to listen to (until the Marines fly their F/A-18s overhead and remind us we're still in San Diego)...
