a month agoBeautiful organized museum that had a lot of different genres of art. It was very well organized. Each piece of art had information about the artist, their intentions, and very informative. Beautiful gallery and easy to get around.

4 weeks agoi absolutely ADORED the textiles section, i came in just for this! the greek section was amazing too, such ancient pieces that have so much life in them. my friend works at a museum so we got in for free, the front desk worker was so kind and bubbly! it was so cool seeing the huge range of textiles across time and cultures, we spent so much time pulling out the display drawers and fawning over the beautiful fabrics. i’d love to come back and explore the rest of the museum next time i’m in providence. the museums in such a great spot right next to the canal, perfect for exploring the area.

3 months agoAwesome art museum with something for everyone. They’ve got everything from a massive Buddha to a tiny Jackson Pollock. Plus, it’s free on Sundays, which is a huge bonus. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but honestly, it’s totally worth it for the experience.

4 months agoNoble attempt to be "everybody's museum," if such is even possible. Eclectically mixes post-modernist deconstructionist art across numerous mediums with classical art and that from antiquity. The plaques for the latest exhibits are almost certainly written by AI. The gift store at the end sells books compiling the works exhibited but no post cards. The bathrooms are clean. There is much to see here, so plan a good chunk of time for this visit.

3 weeks agoA lot Of Contemporary art works by students of RISD, but you can also find some surprises, like God’s Hand by Auguste Rodin, paintings by impressionists, collection of Greek and Roman sculptures and terracotta as well as medieval art and utilitarian objects
