Expert Summary

Detailed Insights

RockIt Sports appears to be a facility primarily catering to basketball and baseball training, with some flexibility for other sports like cricket. However, the reviews strongly indicate that while it serves as a venue for these activities, the overall experience, particularly during tournaments, is severely impacted by significant facility shortcomings and operational issues.

Key Highlights

  • Functions as a facility for basketball and baseball training/tournaments.
  • Can accommodate diverse sports training, such as cricket, using existing nets.
  • Restrooms are reported to be decent (a single positive point amidst numerous negatives).

Standout Features

  • Provides space for basketball, baseball, and potentially cricket training/games.
  • Restrooms are reportedly decent.

Perfect For

Primarily for children and teens participating in competitive sports like basketball, baseball, and potentially cricket (e.g., 8-year-old players mentioned).
Not suitable for younger children needing dedicated play areas or comfortable spectator environments.

Ideal For

Parents solely focused on getting their child playing time in basketball or baseball, who can tolerate significant discomfort and facility issues.
Children training for sports where a basic court/net facility is the primary requirement, and accompanying parents are prepared for poor spectator conditions.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • **Hydration is critical:** Bring plenty of your own water as there are no functional water fountains and indoor temperatures can be extreme.
  • **Prepare for heat:** Dress in light clothing and be aware that participants and spectators will experience very hot and humid conditions.
  • **Expect parking challenges:** Arrive early for tournaments/game days to find a spot, as parking is severely limited.
  • **Be ready to stand:** Spectator seating is very limited, low, and often obstructed, so be prepared to stand for extended periods.
  • **Manage expectations for officiating:** Be aware that refereeing quality during tournaments may be highly inconsistent and potentially biased.
  • **Budget for spectator fees:** Expect to pay $15-$20 per person per day, or $30 for a weekend pass, just to enter as a spectator.

Things to Consider

  • Extreme heat and humidity inside the building due to inadequate or non-existent air conditioning; internal temperatures reported as 80 degrees, 100+ degrees, and 'sweating like a pig' during 97-degree outdoor weather.
  • Insufficient spectator seating, with low bleachers (2-4 feet high) that are often obstructed by standing attendees or non-playing teams.
  • Poor visibility of scoreboards from certain courts.
  • Basketballs from one court frequently roll into adjacent courts due to only 4 feet of space between courts.
  • Dusty/dirty floors causing participants to slide during play, raising safety concerns.
  • Inadequate and often unfair officiating, with referees accused of having 'favorites' (especially 'Rock It' teams) and lacking basic knowledge, leading to coaches having to correct scores and fouls.
  • No functional water fountain on premises.
  • Excessive noise making it difficult to discern which game's whistle is blowing.
  • Only one medic on staff during events with hundreds of attendees and extreme heat, posing a significant safety risk.
  • Charges a spectator entry fee ($15-$20/day, $30/weekend) despite poor facility conditions (lack of A/C, seating, visibility).

Price & Value

Spectator entry costs range from $15-$20 per person per day for tournaments, or $30 for a weekend pass. While one reviewer found $15 'fair' compared to other venues, the overwhelming consensus is that the value is extremely poor given the severe lack of air conditioning, inadequate seating, poor visibility, and other facility issues. Drinks sold at the door were noted as 'fair priced.'

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • No specific accessibility accommodations are mentioned.
  • Limited and low spectator seating, crowded conditions, and potential difficulty navigating due to obstructed views and ball crossover may pose challenges for individuals with mobility impairments.

🍎Food & Drink Policy

  • Drinks are available for purchase at the door and are described as 'fair priced.'
  • No specific policy on outside food is mentioned, but bringing your own water is highly recommended due to the lack of a functional water fountain.

🚗Parking Info

  • Extremely limited and inadequate, especially on game and tournament days.
  • Parking issues significantly worsened since the conversion to three basketball courts.
  • Reviewers describe it as 'awful' and raise concerns about potential accidents.

👥Crowd Levels

  • Very crowded on game and tournament days, leading to severe parking issues, obstructed spectator views, and extreme internal heat.
  • Crowds are large enough to cause concern about medical events due to heat and to overwhelm the limited spectator seating.

🛡️Safety Features

  • **Major concerns:** Extreme internal temperatures (80-100+ degrees) combined with hundreds of attendees and only one medic on staff, posing a significant risk of heat-related medical events.
  • No functional water fountain for hydration.
  • Dusty/dirty floors causing players to slide, which is a tripping/injury hazard.
  • Inadequate space between courts (4 feet) leads to balls entering adjacent play areas, creating distractions and potential hazards.
  • Poor parking situation with potential for accidents.

When to Avoid

  • **Hot weather days:** Absolutely avoid during periods of high outdoor temperatures due to extreme indoor heat and lack of A/C.
  • **Tournament/Game days:** Avoid if you expect comfortable seating, clear views, adequate parking, or fair officiating.
  • If your child or family members are sensitive to heat or require frequent hydration/cooling.
  • If you prioritize fair play and professional officiating in youth sports.
  • If you require safe, clean playing surfaces (due to reported dusty floors causing sliding).
  • If you are a spectator with mobility issues or cannot stand for long periods.

Good sports facility for basketball and baseball. Though my kid trains for cricket here using the same nets.

Apr 2023, Parking still inadequate. For today's tournament, $20/ person to watch your kids play, if you can see the game given all the non-playing teams standing in front of the 2 foot bleachers. Rockit facility has no functional water fountain. 80 degrees inside. 2022, Parking used to be no problem, but since they converted to 3 ba$ketball court$, there is rarely an open spot, especially of game days. By cramming 3 courts in the building, there is very little spectator seating, and as others have mentioned, depending on which court you're watching you may or may not be able to see the scoreboard. The basketball from one game frequently ends up in the adjacent court. It can be difficult to tell which game's ref is blowing his whistle due to only having 4 feet in between courts inside a noisy building. Lastly, while watching practice recently, I noticed all participants sliding around due to dust or dirt on the floors. Stagger game times (or do something else) to improve parking? Put up scoreboards spectators can actually see? Come up with a better seating arrangement for spectators? Clean the floors more frequently so the kids can stop ice skating on the basketball courts?

The only thing decent about the facility was the bathrooms . 100 plus degrees having children play in no air conditioning along with no seating for large groups of attendees forcing them to stand obstructing the view on each court while watching the games. I would highly suggest when hosting basketball games hiring officials that throughly understand how to officiate a game and knowledgeable staff to run the time clock and keep score. There were several instances where coaches from teams throughout the gym had to request the points to be added to their score after the basket was made along with explaining the fouls leading to 1 and 1 or standard shooting fouls due to lack of focus and knowledge from the officials. Parking for the facility is also awful and will need the issues to be resolved before a child is ran over or an accident occurs. Lastly there was only one medic on staff with heat and number of attendees which is a huge deal. Highly don't recommend.

My son had a tournament this weekend (6/22-6/23). Parking is very limited. Pricing was $15/person, which I thought it was fair, honestly it is the cheapest weve paid thusfar. The pricing for drinks at the door were fair as well. However, once we got into the facility, I'd say it should be free to enter. First, the facilty had no air conditioning other than in the restrooms. The temperature outside this weekend was 97 degrees. Add 100s of people and players inside a metsl building with nothing other than industrial ceiling fans and floor fans in the corners and you can imagine how miserable it was. They opened the bay doors to try to create a draft but with temperatures at almost 100 degrees that didn't work. I am honestly shocked nobody (spectators or players) had an medical event with the heat. Secondly, the spectator seating was very limited and the bleachers were very low to the ground. Depending on what court you played on you couldn't see the scoreboard. Thirdly, it was apparent the referees had "favorites". All the games I watched, my sons and other teams, the referees were not calling the games fairly. I did notice that for the "Rock It" teams, the games seemed to go in their favor quite a bit more. I understand there is "give and take" in basketball but some of the calls were absolutely ridiculous! It was as if they were blind on some plays. It's a shame when the 8 year old players know more about the sport than those officiating. Until some major changes happen, I wouldn't recommend going here.

My son had a tournament the weekend of June 8th. He had 2 games on the Saturday and 3 games on the Sunday. I had to pay $30 for the weekend to enter. I didn't mind the price, the building's air conditioning sucked. They only have 3 ceiling fans up. With over hundreds of player, and family members in the building I was sweating like a pig to the slaughter. I had perspirations all down my butt, leg, and everywhere. They should be fined for keeping the temperature so hot and humid inside the building. As much money they charge, it's a shame.
