San Antonio Botanical Garden

Amazing and relaxing experience! It was not busy at all which made the gardens feel so serene. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had plenty of time as the gardens were open until 8 pm. We started at the orchid and cacti conservatories and were in luck because the orchids were in bloom! Beautiful arrangements with dazzling colors and shapes greeted us in the orchid garden. A great place to take pictures. The palm house was unfortunately closed for renovation, which was a bummer as that is usually my favorite part. The square between the conservatories was nicely maintained and had a little pond with water lilies and turtles. The cacti conservatory was a bit small in my opinion, a few cacti had flowers, but overall slightly underwhelming. We followed the Texas Native Trail which guided us around the gardens. I liked that they included this as it was cool for us to see what plants are native to this part of the world. The trail took us around a small lake with a waterfall and turtles basking in the sun. A relaxing space to sit down and have a snack. We ended our visit by visiting the sensory and Japanese gardens. The latter was a bit small but thoughtfully laid out. We spotted a red cardinal a couple of times, which was a fun bonus. They have many toilets which are very clean and water filling stations at various locations.

I went with two friends last weekend for a little Sunday outing. This is a relatively large place/terrain to walk so make sure that you bring comfortable shoes and clothing because there are dirt, sand, grass, and concrete footpaths. I love that they have a map (very helpful) to navigate through every part of the park. Everything was honestly enjoyable- the views, the art, the atmosphere. They had bathrooms,vending machines and resting areas throughout the park. The gift shop is pricey but I did ended up getting two shirts that were on sale ($12.98each)! The flowers, plants, animals and all the greenery are absolutely breathtaking, and a “breath of fresh air”

I have never been here before. My daughter wanted to go here for her birthday and It was pretty cool. My eyes were in heaven with all the beautiful things to see. I had a nice relaxing time. We will definitely be visiting The Botanical Gardens again

Breath taking. Wow!! So worth the trip. Thank you Tony Watson for helping us find our way when we were lost. Water falls, cactus garden, fern garden, orchid garden, a lake and many many other plants and vegetation to see. My only negative would be the lack of directional signs and the rude young lady at the ticket booth.

We visited the garden to see the Illuminate event- first time visit and it did not disappoint. This will be a new family tradition for us to visit yearly. We’ve also visited during the spring season when it’s nice to be outside before the humidity hits. It’s a beautiful place to visit anytime of year. ❤️❤️
