2 weeks agoReally great experience. Clean, friendly and calm. The animals look well taken care of. It's always a nice experience when coming to this Zoo, the only thing is that this time a lot of habitats didn't had animals cause of remodelling. If you come here you can bring your own snacks and water or buy here, prices are not that high. Bring comfortable footwear, a hat and sunblock.

a week agoIf you're looking for an unforgettable day packed with adventure, wonder, and wildlife then this is the place to be. This world-famous zoo is massive—you could spend the entire day exploring and still feel like there's more to see! Families, this place is a dream! It's incredibly kid-friendly, with a fantastic play area where little ones can burn off energy and learn while they play. Stroller rentals are available right at the entrance, making it easy to navigate the zoo with toddlers in tow. Whether you're a local or just visiting San Diego, the zoo is a must-see destination. Educational, exciting, and beautifully maintained—it’s truly one of the best zoos out there!

in the last weekThis was the best zoo that I have ever been to. The animals are incredibly close yet still have large, comfortable habitats. The layout of the zoo makes you feel like an explorer and really imerses you in each part of the park. There was usually ample shade as well. My mom really appreciated the scooters that were available to rent. It helped her have as much fun as we did and kept the day enjoyable for everyone. The one thing I didn't like was the prices of the food and the fact that the "reusable" beverage cups are only valid same day purchase. From what I saw online, this change is relatively recent. For a zoo, wouldn't you want to be more sustainable? I would rather pay 5 or 10 bucks to "recharge" my cup than the whole price all over again and add another cup to the landfill. The numbers on the made made it much easier to orient ourselves and we felt confident navigating the park. As guests from Phoenix, we plan to come again and hopefully see the gorillas this time!

a month agoSuch a GREAT ZOO!! Every time we thought we had a question about the best way to get from one exhibit to another, up popped an employee. The map was great, but due to some serious time constraints on our part, it was important for us to not waste a second. Getting to see some of the eagles, elephants, koala, and leopards eating was really special. We were able to get so close to so many animals! The enclosures all seem so personalized. Our bus ride was great. Glad we did that first for a quick overview. Our decision to take the tram to the "back" first seemed to help make more of the walking downhill. The plants around the grounds, large and small are so diverse and beautiful. The sections for pollinators and for hummingbirds were working. I'm so glad I chose this for my one afternoon free in San Diego. Highly recommend!!

2 weeks agoGreat zoo. The bus tour is right when you enter the zoo, I sat at the bottom and took 5 minutes because everybody wanted to sit at the top. Top seats were a (15 min wait Tuesday), I'm sure, on the weekend or doing the summer I will be longer. The tour was 35 minutes. The bottom you can still see all the animals just sit in the middle. No problem, and on a hot day, the bottom has shade the top doesn't. The sky tour is 10 minutes, and it's can hold a group of 4 total weights to be less than 700 lbs. The animals were very active, and the staff was super friendly. The Panda section had a huge line, and I wasn't able to get to see why. Next time I go there , I'll make that area my priority. Outside food / drinks welcome. There are lots of places to buy. There are no places to charge your phone. You can feed the giraffes on fri-sun. 4D theater $8 extra. Bought my ticket with AAA saved $12.
