**INTERNATIONAL STAFF DO NOT WORK HERE** If you are thinking of working here for camp America do not! It is not the wholesome summer experience that you may expect it be. Firstly the cabins that we were living in were dirty when we moved in (dead bugs and rodent droppings) it clearly hadn’t been cleaned since the previous year. We had practically no support from the management and it was clear that the owner did not care for our wellbeing. There were many occasions where we just felt like a burden. She told us at the start of the year that she would provide us with basic essentials (bread, milk, cleaning supplies etc.)but never did other than on one occasion when she gave us mouldy bread and some eggs (clearly left over from the kids). We even had to supply our own toilet roll and soap which wouldn’t have been an issue if we weren’t being paid minimally. On the whole we got paid less than everyone else and were expected to work longer hours. The international staff are the only staff required to do pm care as they can get away without paying us any extra. Then when it came to the end of the summer we were left to fend for our selfs. It felt as though as soon as we were no longer any use to them they no longer cared. Less than a week before I was due to fly home (and others to begin travelling) we were informed that no transport to the airport would be provided. Despite individuals being informed in their interviews that their would be. Their excuse was that the man who hired us no longer worked for them so they actually didn’t have to provide any help. She met with us and stated that “as a person she really cares about us and our wellbeing” but then went onto say that “as a business they cannot help us as our contract ends at 3pm on the Friday”.This camp is over an hour and a half from the airport I was flying home from and we were expected to make our own way there. She even told us to just get a taxi! Luckily the rest of the staff at the camp were absolutely amazing and offered instantly to help out. Lastly if there are any parents reading this, even though my fellow staff members were amazing at their jobs and got used to adapting quickly, everything was very unorganised. With activities and schedules often being made the day before leaving us to improvise on the day. Overall I would not recommend working here as either an international or an American.

Both my grown children went to SR for many years and had fabulous experiences! Now my daughter’s children are attending next summer, the first of many summers I am sure. Howard and Dale are amazing owners, leaders in their field and wonderful people. I am thrilled that our family can keep this tradition alive! I would give them more stars if I could, that’s how impressed I am with their wonderful camp!

As a child, I loved attending summer camp! I became a teacher , and with summers 'off', I was able to return to my 'summer place' and return to day camp as a staff member. I joined the S/R Camp staff in 1992 and brought my children along with me to enjoy wonderful camp experiences. I have now been at S/R for almost 30 years and love providing campers with exciting summer experiences as the Nature lady! Camp is a wonderful place for children (campers) and young adults (staff) to get outdoors, away from screens and engage in meaningful social experiences!

Im the mother of one of the camp counselors. This camp is the worst. Do not let your children work here. They treat the counselors terribly and pay them less than minimum wage. They are overworked and underpaid. They charge a lot of money for the camp and pay the counselors about 4 bucks an hour. It's the first job experiences for many of these counselors. Many of the counselors are children themselves and they do not bother to give them clear directions or instructions on how to be counselors. Very disappointing . DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN WORK HERE. DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS TO THIS CAMP

An excellent day camp for the Montogomery County and suburban area. Kids are engaged and have fun. Great communication. Great safety.
