a year agoA previous review stated the animals are unhappy and these people don’t deserve animals. That could not be further from the truth. My child has taken riding lessons here for four and a half years, so I know this place well, have seen them with the bus and around their barn, and I can say that nobody loves their animals more than this family. It’s very easy to take one isolated situation and pass judgement, but that does not make one knowledgeable about Shar-Itt Farm. Their animals are well cared for and the family is incredibly kind and generous about sharing their animals with everyone. They are usually seen in parades, nativity sets at Christmas, the Magnolia Festival in Gardendale, and always love to see children get excited about animals. We have learned so much about animal care and farm life, above and beyond what my child has been taught about horseback riding. If you have a child interested in learning to ride, I recommend giving a call - they even have “mini” ponies for the younger children!

a year agoSeen them on 2 different occasions in their mobile petting zoo BUS. 1 church event (Spring 2023) & 1 school event (July 2023) absolutely pitiful. It was extremely hot 🔥 out for the July event (over 100 degrees heat index) numerous animals inside the bus in tiny stalls, very hot (no air or breeze even with windows open) none of the animals had water, the alpaca wasn't sheered (in JULY) the goat's were tethered to the bus wall, very unnatural and inhumane. Some of the kids at the school even said the animals looked so unhappy. These people don't deserve animals. If there was a zero star that's what they would get, they don't deserve even 1. 😞 Worst petting zoo I have ever been too especially with our Alabama summers.

3 years agoLOVE Sharitt Petting Farm. My family spent many days learning about farm animals and taking riding lessons. 10/10 would do again.
