Such an incredible theatre for the entire family! I've never been to a show that I didn't love.

Last summer I attended the culminating play from my granddaughter's week long camp at SCT. I was impressed with the skill is the students and the amount they learned in a very short time. The experience encouraged my granddaughter to audition for one of the many annual plays. She was comfortable to audition as practice to get a feel for what the experience is like. Her first audition, was just that, practice. She learned a lot. The second audition she landed a her first official role as an ensemble member. What a great opportunity. The producers leaned into her gymnastic talents and she had several fun parts. To see her step in front of a fully packed theater and lead the intermission prize drawing made my heart so proud. She owned her presence, she showed her confidence, she projected and interacted with the crowd. Wow! Now to the play review: I attended opening night of Winnie the Pooh. The stories told through the original, made for the stage play, were familiar. Knowing the story from my own childhood, the acters were spot-on in their character development of each part. My favorites were Piglet and Tigger but every actor on the stage were deserving of a Tony award. Just because this is a 'Children's Theater' don't be fooled. This is a professional troop of actors, and supporting staff that turn out highly entertaining plays. Buy tickets on the website and I recommend bringing cash for the small concession stand to make it easier and faster for all to get through the line. No photos or videos are allowed during the play, hence no personal photo added. Follow SCT social media accounts to see the cast and crew!

My son was in a recent production and had an extremely positive experience. Everyone involved with the theater was incredibly nice and always had the kids' best interests at heart. Safety was a primary concern. We had to specify who could pick up our son from rehearsals and performances and there was a sign out sheet to ensure that's what happened. There was an illness in the cast and they decided to postpone performances a week instead of letting the show go on and infecting the rest of the cast. They also did a fine job of juggling the varied concerns of the families involved. We tend to be on the conservative side and felt that those views were respected even though there was quite the range of opinions. The quality of the performances was pretty high given the compressed time line of rehearsals, "tech week", and 9 different performances over 3 weeks. It was exhausting getting my son to thr various call times but we always felt communicated with and I never felt they pushed my son too far. My son had a blast and has definitely gotten the acting bug. He's already talking about the next show. And there's also room for people who want to work backstage or to take on a smaller part. All the parents involved also pitched in with their time and talents to make the show a a success. Overall Spokane Children's Theater is a great place for kids to experience stage life and also a great place just to see a show.
