Sports Basement Presidio

I came here to drop off some old shoes. They take old shoes whether you want to donate them or recycle them. I had 2 pairs that are pretty much done for and it's hard to find a place in the bay where they decide for you whether the shoes should be donated or recycled (I think mine should be the latter), that also takes all shoes, not just athletic ones. The bins are at the exit, but if you're lost, the staff is awesome. One of them, a lady, answered all my annoying questions with a great attitude. They also take: socks (might only be wool but the website does not specify), real cork, sports bottles, gas canisters, batteries, cardboard (different part of store). Slight disagreement between website and bins (check photos and website) but you can try to ask. It's a bit out of the way but I rode the bus here so my shoes don't go into landfill (I had time). Not to mention this place is huge if you want to shop, and they have different equipment for rent, drinking fountain, and clean bathrooms.

I am a sports basement presidio regular, have always loved it and have had good service but I recently made a big ticket purchase from the bike department and I have to take a moment to shout out THAD. He was amazing!!! I didn’t really even plan on buying a bike that day, but he was so helpful and gave honest and candid opinions on the bike I was looking at. I came back to get it fitted and we worked for a couple of hours to get it right — it’s been AWESOME so far. He was genuinely excited for me and I really felt like he built trust with me about the bike and about the fit, and at this point I would take his word as gospel. You can’t beat sports basement deals but Thad is a testament to the benefit of working with people who love what they do and are extremely knowledgeable. As an added bonus, free service on my bike for 6months?? So nice! I really feel like if I had any issue, mechanical, fit or otherwise I could go in and be met with someone super willing to help! TLDR: go buy a bike from SB and make sure Thad is there that day!!!

Very happy with Sports basement at Presidio I just rejoined after moving back to the area and their member program, which is really great I swim bike and gym exercise so I started buying my equipment from there again at the discount and had my bike completely rehab at a fair price Bought some shoes on sale. The sales people are really nice and are not pushy and equipment is great. The places is just really San Francisco comfortable.

Just got back from Sports Basement Presidio! I want to say Thank you to the Entire staff. You guys really went out of your way to help us out! And you found exactly what we needed. Your staff is a very Happy and Uplifting group of people. It makes it very comfortable and enjoyable to go into your store on a regular basis! Thank you all very much!

Place is great and I will give it five star a lot of things you can find there. but the customer service is very bad I went there to buy an inflatable pillow and I ask if there is any one that’s open so I can see the size of it. The ladies on the cashier try to be smart and told me you can read the sizes but you cannot inflate it. I try with another person that’s works there and he said we don’t have anything to pump the air in it which is translated to(( he don’t want to spend the time and show us what we need)) , you going to tell me a huge store doesn’t have an air pump, you would think stores should do better job with customers because now everything online and at cheaper price , I hope the owner of the store do something about it. What we are trying to do is supporting small business.
