2 months agoGood hike- took about 2.5 hours. This hike gets you close the Hollywood sign. There’s no parking fee or anything. Just drive to the trailhead and park if the park gate is open. Otherwise, I saw a bunch of cars also parked on the street, before the park entrance.

8 months agoThere’s ample parking and a restroom at the parking lot. The trail is about 4-5 miles to the front and back of the Hollywood sign. It’s a gradual accent to the top with some wildflowers along the way such as pansies. Mostly dirt tracks with lots of horse poo because it’s also a horseback trail. The views of the surrounding area and the Hollywood sign is spectacular. Dog is allowed on leash.

a month agoFun hike. My 6 year old handled the hike to the lower point fine. The horses toward the top kick up a lot of dust and also drop a lot of poop. The amount of horse poop was a bit overwhelming because I had a dog who found the poo delicious so it was hard to enjoy the hike while keeping my dog away from the poo. Just something to be aware of. Overall a very beautiful and intermediate level hike.

11 months agoGreat trail! Lots of horses and horse poo though :/ It definitely was enough to make you nauseous especially if you’re already hot and sweaty from the hike up so mentally prepare yourself. It was a busy trail but people weren’t back to back, there was plenty of space. Even without a map the trail was very well labeled and easy to follow. Can’t wait to do it again.

a year agoIt is a somewhat challenging 2.6 miles up hill hike from your car to either the Hollywood sign (back) or the Vista point which most people go for photo ops. A little over the first 1.5 miles are all up hill and quite steep in some areas so make sure you are physically fit for this hike. There are no rest rooms along the way so make sure you take care of business in the porta potties at the parking before the hike. Don't be fooled by the wide open trail, it gets muddy and wet after a little rain and can be dangerous on the way down. There are good amount of dogs and horseback riders on a good day so if you are going to bring a dog make sure the dog is well behaved since there are no protective railings on the trial.
