The Frick has more quality small shows than the larger Carnegie. I come here more often as an art enthusiast. The Kara Walker show was terrific!! The grounds are lovely, it's really worth visiting!

We came here on a Sunday in January for the Winterfest event while in Pittsburgh for the weekend. I found out about the event through Facebook. It was a free event but there was a $5 charge to tour the first floor of the mansion. There are several buildings in the property including the building with artwork, a carriage house, a cafe and visitors center, greenhouse and mansion. It was an informative tour through the artwork and carriage house. There were several knowledgeable docents in the mansion and they all were friendly and informative. Parking was on-site and the lot was pretty full. It looked like you could park on the street as well. There are tickets in normal days that you can purchase in the visitors center - I’m not totally sure what is free and what is paid during normal non-event hours. I enjoyed the mansion tour and would have liked to see more of the house but they were only doing the first floor for this event. Cool place to check out when in the area and looking for something to do.

The house is wonderful, but the staff is rude inside of the art museum. I don’t know why there were about five workers in a small art museum. Very unnecessary and makes it very awkward to look around.they made me feel like I was doing something wrong by being there. My tour had run a bit late so I was a little late to the art museum. There was a rude older lady that gave me a dirty look when I walked in and she said I had six minutes. I said okay I’ll just take a Quick Look, and she looked angry and rolled her eyes, saying nothing to me. I proceed to walk into the main room of the museum, and there’s around five staff members standing around. I then get greeted again by a young girl telling me I have six minutes. I walk into the one room and get followed by another worker. The art museum is very small. They were still opened for 6 minutes, and it isn’t my fault the tour ran late. I felt unwanted there and left asap. People don’t want to work until the end of their shifts apparently. I went to the carriage house before the art museum, and the one man in there was very nice and didn’t stalk me around the museum or have an attitude towards me. Hire workers that care about art and the viewer’s experience. Art should be admired in a welcoming environment. It’s such an awkward feeling to be hounded by workers while trying to appreciate artwork, because they don’t want to stay until the end of their shifts. No reason for that many workers either.

Like stepping into a time machine!! At the very least, the car museum was as such. So cool and interesting! I almost missed my bus becuase the outstanding gentleman in the show room was so knowledgeable! We had a great conversation about the cars and carriages. And he informed a traveler like me on the Fricks and why they are so renowned in Pittsburgh. Highly recommend!

The Frick is a beautiful place to visit. They have some exhibits to check out and the grounds are really nice to walk around. The best thing is it’s free to go into the museums, there’s no admission to pay unless if you want to go inside the Clay Frick House. It’s $15 to tour the house.
