💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →If planning a child's birthday party, inquire about the yoga room capacity and confirm party activity details, as it was a hit for a 5-year-old's celebration.
- →Dress in light, breathable clothing, especially if you tend to get warm, as the facility can be hot near windows.
- →For parties, leverage the flexibility to bring your own food, drinks, and decorations (excluding piñatas and alcohol) to customize the event and potentially save costs.
- →If your child is a seasoned climber, this venue might not offer enough long-term challenge due to infrequent route setting and hold issues; consider it for an occasional visit rather than regular training.
- →Utilize the free lockers to secure personal items during your visit.
Things to Consider
- ⚠Experienced climbers reported significant issues with hold cleanliness (chalky), worn-out holds lacking texture, and cracks needing cleaning, which impacts grip.
- ⚠Infrequent route setting (routes staying up for 4-5 months) can lead to boredom for regular or experienced climbers seeking new challenges.
- ⚠The facility can be uncomfortably warm, particularly near windows, due to a lack of adequate ventilation or fans.
- ⚠Some staff training concerns were raised, specifically allowing beginner groups to climb on overlapping routes, which could be a safety issue for less supervised children.
Price & Value
Prices are consistently described as 'pretty reasonable' and 'worth the money'. For birthday parties, the value includes attentive belayers, staff assistance for setup, and the significant flexibility of allowing outside food, drinks, and decorations. A group offer of both rock climbing and bouldering for a single price was noted as 'generous'. - • If you or your children are particularly sensitive to warm indoor temperatures and prefer cooler climbing environments.

a month agoI recently visited The Gravity Vault in Hoboken, and it was an awesome experience! My belay was super helpful and kept encouraging me to push myself and try more climbs. The staff were all really friendly, and the prices were pretty reasonable too. The whole place was clean and well-maintained, which made the experience even better. I had a lot of fun and definitely want to go back to try more challenging climbs—and maybe even work toward becoming a certified rock climber!

a week ago2-Person Staff Belay Date Nite was the highlight of my week! I learned something new and got a workout out of it! The physical and mental challenges together are so exhilarating, and I felt so safe in my harness! Shout-out to Liz, our staff belayer - She was so down to earth and chill. It really made you feel like she's been doing this awhile and had full control of the situation. She made sure we felt safe and catered the experience to our needs/desires! We'll definitely be back. 😃

4 years agoA great place to do some rock climbing before trying it on a actual mountain. Never been to such a place and the experience was amazing. The staff is very hospitable and they are generous enough to offer us Rock Climbing and Bouldering both under the same price for a friend’s birthday. Highly recommended for a team’s event or any outings with friends. Solid experience and worth the money. They have lockers which are free to put your belongings as well

4 months agoAfter climbing at this gym for several months, I noticed several things that created a disappointing experience. This gym does not clean their holds (I have seen route setters use chalky holds when setting new routes), plus many holds need to be replaced (worn out with no texture left). The cracks are very chalky (again, never cleaned), so there is minimal grip. The routes will stay up for months (some as long as 4-5 months); climbing can get boring since there is infrequent route setting. Aside from the poor climbing experience, the facility isn't great. It is often too warm, especially when climbing in spots near the window without a fan. Some staff are poorly trained, with many instructors allowing beginner groups to climb on overlapping routes. I wouldn't recommend to regular/ experienced climbers. If you are going infrequently or are a beginner, it's fine.

a year agoWe celebrated my son's 5th birthday here at Gravity Vault Hoboken. The climbing party was a lot of fun for all! Most, if not all, kids are first timers but that didn't present any issues. They were all excited from the moment they wore the harnesses. Belayers were very attentive, they provided easy instructions and encouraged the kids to keep climbing. After the climb, kids and parents did a few rounds of tug of war and that just added tons of fun! In addition to the the climbing activity, we had a short party in the yoga room. The staff were fast to assist in setting up the tables and chairs. Except for no piñatas and alcohol, there are almost no restrictions for room usage. We were able to bring food, drinks, decors, and music in there. We had a total of 30 guests and the yoga room was just the right size for us, the floor to ceiling window was a good add to the ambience. Over all it was a superb event at Gravity Vault! Izzy, Bar, Brian and the rest of the staff are all amazing.
