The Spot Bouldering Gym

Welp, I’m big enough to admit when I’m wrong. During my trip I went back to this gym for a second time. I went at a different time of day, with different staff members. The evening staff was so friendly and helpful (shoutout Sokka and Sokka’s dad). I can appreciate everyone has a bad day from time to time and I wouldn’t want someone to give me a Google review on one of my bad days. Again, facility is clean, large, and as another reviewer said, the problems are set well. Nice workout equipment as well. I still think the mats could use some softening but perhaps they are new and still being worked in. Other than that, it’s a great gym. The facility itself is great. A good variety of routes, lots of space, good equipment, and clean/well maintained. The mats are very stiff, to the point that it sometimes feels like you’re falling onto the floor. The customer service aspect is not there, I struggled to get help even just to check in. Maybe the front desk agent was having a bad day. Overall it’s a good gym but I think there are competitive options in the area.

It’s a good gym and I love the community events. The only reason it’s 3 stars instead of 5 is because this location in particular has a relatively frequent issue of staff not showing up in time to unlock the doors for open (which is super frustrating for someone like me who can quite literally only climb from 8:00 to 8:40 AM most days)… I’ve been a member for a little over a year and it’s happened probably around ten times during morning sessions in that period - twice I ended up just having to leave because it took so long for someone to get here. As of right now writing this it’s 8:12, 12 minutes past open, and there is still no staff here. :( The route setting is always super creative and fun, and I like the gallery wall for uplifting community artists!

The problems here are beautifully set! I love the variety of faces their walls have. The grading system is easy to understand too. There’s a ton of routes I’m projecting currently. The front desk staff is very friendly too. I loved seeing the school of Mines meetup as well as Black Diamond demoing shoes. The Spot is the spot!
