6 months agoDon't miss DOGMAN!!! The Musical! Every seat in the house is great! If you sit in the first row, you'll be on the same level as the actors, so you may want to sit a couple of rows back. We sat in the 4th row, and it was perfect! The set design, props, and concepts were excellent, and the actors' execution was outstanding, resulting in spectacular fun! Even though there were only 6 actors, it felt like a full cast ensemble, and they worked tremendously hard to pull it off. The musical follows the 1st book and A Tale of 2 Kitties puuuurrrrrrrrrrfectly, word-for-word! After the show, the actors did an impromptu meet and greet on their way out. Despite being tired and sweaty, they stopped and chatted with the children who were still around, asking how they enjoyed the play. The actors were incredibly gracious, taking lots of photos and signing autographs for the kids. It was a wonderful close to the show. We've been to many shows for our children, and none have been able to capture their hearts and attention the way this show did from beginning to end. It was fun for adults too, very funny and extremely creatively done! Thanks so much! Also, I was hoping they would continue the dance party as we left the theater, and they didn't disappoint us. My kids are wanting to squeeze in one more visit to the show. This theater also supports Art-Reach Cards! There are no seat restrictions for this show. Thank you, Wilma, for honoring the Art-Reach program in the way I'm sure it was intended! Most neighboring theaters relegate Art-Reach card holders to the highest rafters with minimal tickets available.

2 months agoI've seen many shows at The Wilma, and it just keeps getting better. I'm enthralled by this community. Most recently, The Half-God of Rainfall --whoah: the depth, the poetry, the performances, and set -- intimate and stunning. It left an imprint on me, indelible. 🩷

a year agoOut of all the large theaters in Philly, I feel that The Wilma has the most diverse and creative productions. Their board does an amazing job selecting stories from many cultural perspectives. The creative teams bring these productions to life using innovative and often unique styles of storytelling. I feel like I'm coming home each time I'm there for a show. So much that I'm now on my 3rd year as a season ticket holder!

2 months agoThis highly skilled group of artists and technicians stage excellent, edgy, and inspiring productions, and they do this within a community context. They create community with each show and work closely with community partners. But if you are thinking, "Aw this is a homespun community theater," alter your expectations. This is top notch professional theater that will transport you to other worlds, unsettle you, ground you, challenge you, and reach deep into you to call forth your best self. Oh and they have a new podcast that goes behind the scenes. The Wilma Theatercast.
