💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Prioritize a visit to the nature center for an educational experience, especially with 'young minds'.
  • If planning to explore trails 'adjacent from the nature center', especially during wet seasons (e.g., February), be prepared for potentially flooded, rugged, and root-filled paths.
  • Consider bringing bikes for children, as dedicated bike trails are available.
  • The 'historic brick road' sign indicates an entrance to the 'blue trail'.
  • Locate specific trailheads, like the yellow trail, in advance if you plan to explore them, as they might be less clearly marked.
  • Take advantage of the observation deck for marsh views.

Things to Consider

  • Trails 'adjacent from the nature center' (not specified if all trails) can be flooded and more rugged, with roots and garbage, especially noted in February.
  • The nature center may not always have active programs or staff present ('Nothing going on there today').
  • Some trails, like the 'yellow trail', can be difficult to find the starting point.

When to Avoid

  • Trails 'adjacent from the nature center' if you require consistently smooth, dry, and clean paths, especially during or after heavy rains (e.g., February reports of flooding).

  • If children are easily frustrated by unclear trail markers, some trails (like the yellow trail) might be challenging to find.

Beautiful and the renovations are amazing 😍 the nature center is a great stop for young minds to explore and appreciate FL wildlife and native plants. Learning about where you live is important and Tillie K Fowler has made that possible.

Observation deck is on the same side as the nature center which is at the end of the road. You pass a playground and dog park before coming to a round about. Easy 1.5 miles trail. 2/13 The trails adjacent from the nature center are flooded and more rugged with roots and garbage.

The blue trail is a nice easy walk. There is an observation deck overlooking the marsh. On one end of the park are the playground, restrooms and picnic tables. A nice dog park in the middle. There is a sign for the historic brick road. They don't tell you that this is also an entrance to the blue trail. Further up the service road, they have a nature center. Nothing going on there today. The yellow trail begins somewhere behind the restrooms at the nature center. I never found the beginning of the yellow trail. Perhaps on another trip.
